Currently, multi-channel retail is an inevitable market trend, combining traditional and modern methods, and online and offline approaches. This presents both opportunities and challenges for many Vietnamese businesses.

Businesses, supermarkets, and shopping malls in Dong Nai city are increasingly focusing on integrating modern, multi-channel retail models, as well as developing multi-platform sales: from websites and mobile applications to online shopping platforms, livestreaming sales channels, and product promotion…

Consumers are increasingly interested.

According to the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Businesses, the results of a survey on consumer behavior and trends in the High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Selection Survey, conducted from September 2025 to January 2026, show that the retail market is clearly shifting towards omnichannel.

Supermarkets and shopping malls remain the primary shopping channel, chosen by 44% of surveyed consumers. Simultaneously, e-commerce and social media are gaining increasing attention, with 24% and 8% of surveyed consumers choosing them respectively. This indicates that online channels have become a significant component of the shopping journey and continue to have strong growth potential in the future. Meanwhile, convenience stores, grocery stores, and traditional markets remain popular choices for consumers when purchasing food products.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, representative of the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Businesses, in charge of the survey, shared: Today's consumers prioritize trust, convenience, experience, and transparency. They search for information online, compare prices, and flexibly switch between shopping locations to find suitable choices and experiences.

Mr. Tran Dai Duong, founder of the local fashion brand SomeHow, said: In addition to developing a system of stores in provinces and cities, including Dong Nai, to reach more customers, SomeHow is also promoting multi-channel sales across various platforms: website, social media, and e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and TikTok Shop… Simultaneously, SomeHow is also strengthening interactive activities and expanding the brand's reach on online platforms.

“Both traditional (offline) and online sales channels have their own advantages and disadvantages. Online channels are increasingly attracting consumer attention. However, to improve business efficiency in the digital age, brands need to thoroughly understand modern consumer behavior and trends, as well as focus on managing and operating their business, marketing, and advertising channels effectively,” Mr. Tran Dai Duong further shared.

One of the increasingly popular sales tools in recent times is the Shoppertainment trend. This is a form of combining sales channels with entertainment. By adding entertainment elements and linking to product purchases, customers can shop more comfortably, conveniently, and with a wider variety of options.

Expanding promotional channels and developing markets.

In the context of technological development, combining modern distribution methods – e-commerce – with traditional distribution methods is a useful solution for connecting supply and demand, expanding advertising and retail channels for products, especially for local products.

According to Vo Van Manh Em, Deputy Director of Domilk Joint Stock Company (An Phuoc commune): The company promotes the development of both traditional and e-commerce markets by actively participating in various trade connection and promotion activities, developing retail channels for its products, and introducing products into supermarket systems…

In addition, many supermarkets, shopping malls, and convenience store chains in Dong Nai are promoting multi-channel retail development and digital payments to attract consumers to experience and shop, thereby meeting modern consumer trends.

Mr. Trang Phuc, representative of the marketing department of Co.opmart Bien Hoa (Tam Hiep ward), shared: "In recent times, in addition to traditional business and marketing activities, the supermarket has also strengthened online retail channels and online shopping applications… Especially in the past year, the supermarket has also implemented livestream sales and product promotion events with many incentives to stimulate consumer demand."

Livestream sessions are usually held once a week, every Tuesday. The products promoted and introduced during these livestreams include Vietnamese goods, especially those with special offers and good prices; private label products from supermarket chains; fresh produce; local specialties; and early-season fruits.

Over the past period, departments, agencies, and localities in Dong Nai have organized many programs and activities to equip businesses and OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities in the area with knowledge and skills to set up online stores and organize effective livestreaming on reputable platforms; as well as creating opportunities for OCOP products and typical rural industrial products of Dong Nai to be widely introduced to consumers inside and outside the city.

Besides its advantages, the multi-channel retail trend also presents many risks, especially those related to intellectual property. This requires Vietnamese businesses and brands to focus on improving quality, branding, information transparency, investing seriously in anti-counterfeiting solutions, and developing sustainable sales channels.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hong, Chairman and CEO of Vina Science and Technology Development Joint Stock Company (Vina CHG) - a company specializing in providing technology solutions for combating counterfeit goods - commented: Currently, e-commerce and multi-channel sales are developing strongly. It is encouraging that online business platforms on social media and e-commerce platforms are now required to register their operations according to the law. This creates a better legal framework to protect consumers. However, counterfeit goods still find ways to infiltrate and exploit the development of digital platforms to reach consumers. Therefore, raising consumer awareness has become more urgent than ever.
