Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Hue - Da Nang tourist train at Hue station, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province Nguyen Van Phuong said that the train named "Connecting Central Heritage" connects the two cities of Hue and Da Nang, creating more options for people and tourists on their journey to experience sightseeing and tourism through the central provinces. Thua Thien Hue province committed that the locality will continue to direct relevant agencies and units to accompany and promote the train to tourism businesses, people and tourists; mobilize businesses to have preferential service policies, support connecting other modes of transport for passengers to continue their journey; at the same time, promote tourism specialties on the trains to attract a large number of people and tourists at home and abroad.
According to Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong, the Hue - Da Nang tourist train in the journey "Connecting Central Heritage" is a practical and attractive product; helps diversify tourism products; is a safe, comfortable, and friendly travel option for tourists, helps reduce pressure on road traffic, and attracts international tourists in the heritage tourism journey of the three localities of Thua Thien Hue - Da Nang - Quang Nam. With this journey, tourists will have wonderful experiences when enjoying the majestic beauty of the railway route through Hai Van Pass. City leaders directed the Department of Tourism, tourism associations, and tourism businesses to create all conditions to develop the Hue - Da Nang tourist train to become a key tourism product of the two localities in general and the railway industry in particular.
“We hope that Vietnam Railways Corporation will continue to pay attention to renovating the interior, investing in equipment on train cars, upgrading the facilities of Hue and Da Nang stations, and adding more experiential tourism services between Hue and Da Nang to enhance the experience for tourists,” said Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong.
According to the reporter at Hue station, from early morning, there were many domestic and international tourists waiting to check in for this train. According to information from Vietnam Railways Corporation, every day there will be two pairs of trains with the numbers HD1/2 and HD3/4 running between Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang. During the initial period of operation, the train consists of 5 modern air-conditioned soft-seat carriages and 1 community activity carriage, promising to be an impressive "mobile" check-in point for tourists. At Da Nang station and Hue station, the railway industry also arranged VIP waiting rooms to serve passengers. On the journey, tourists can also enjoy special local cuisine... On the opening day alone, the train consists of 10 carriages, including 2 community carriages, tourists can enjoy cuisine and special cultural and artistic performances.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (Hoa Luxia - travel blogger, a person who specializes in experiencing and evaluating tourism) shared: "On the heritage connection train from Thua Thien Hue to Da Nang, I experienced many interesting services such as Hue singing, Hue specialties, especially the beautiful check-in (photo) locations. Hopefully this train will expand and develop further so that more people can experience and travel to Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang."
Sharing the same excitement when experiencing the journey to Da Nang for the first time, Ms. Tran Thi Mai Hoa (tourist from Hue) expressed: “To experience the beautiful, majestic route with mountains on one side and the sea on the other is wonderful. The travel time of nearly 3 hours on the train helps visitors to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery throughout the journey. Departing early in the morning in Hue, we can watch the sunrise on Lang Co Bay. On the way back, I will continue to choose this train to watch the sunset on Hai Van Pass”.
Meanwhile, Janie Vince (an American tourist) has a very different feeling about rail travel in the Central region. He said that he had read a lot of experiences sharing about train travel in Vietnam on international travel groups and associations. During his stay in Hue, he was introduced to the train itinerary and booked and experienced it. “Everything was great, the seats were clean, the staff was polite. I got to see unique traditional Vietnamese singing and dancing performances, and enjoy local dishes. If I have another chance to come back, I will continue to choose the train to travel on my travel itinerary,” said Janie Vince.

Contribute to diversifying tourism products
Mr. Ho Thanh Tu, Director of Vietadventure Travel Company Limited, assessed that the operation of the Hue - Da Nang tourist train "Connecting Central Heritage" has contributed to diversifying tourism products; increasing the experience for tourists when coming to the Central region. The train contributes to bringing tourists from Da Nang to the ancient capital of Hue to experience the scenic spots, world cultural heritage, tourism services in Hue and vice versa, bringing tourists from Hue to Da Nang to experience the destination of beach resort tourism, festival event tourism, eco-culture, night tourism...
According to Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Railways Dang Sy Manh, the train was launched on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the liberation of Thua Thien Hue (March 26) and the liberation of Da Nang city (March 29), demonstrating the efforts of the two localities in connecting regions and promoting tourism. This is a new product, a transport product combined with tourism, a unique segment of tourism, history, culture and heritage experiences that Vietnam Railways is implementing. In the future, we hope to move towards the luxury cruise train segment, connecting more means and regions so that tourists can have many memorable experiences.
After arriving at Hue and Da Nang stations, right in front of the stations, localities have arranged an automatic bicycle rental system using QR code scanning for the convenience of tourists visiting scenic spots. In particular, Thua Thien Hue province also applies a discount support policy for organizations and individuals when visiting tourist attractions in Hue (applicable once for each train ticket). It is expected that in April, the train will be equipped with wifi to serve passengers.
According to Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoai An, the operation of this train is important in connecting regions in the Central region; enhancing the experience for tourists when exploring tourism services of the two localities. In addition to other means of transport such as airplanes and cars, railways are also an interesting choice for tourists, especially international tourists. Tourists have the opportunity to admire the beautiful scenery on the route known as "the most beautiful railway route in Vietnam". In the coming time, the tourism industry will promote this train to tourist markets and travel agencies, considering it a new tourism product in 2024.
Every day, there will be 2 pairs of trains with the numbers HD1/2 and HD3/4 running between Hue and Da Nang. Specifically, in Hue, train HD1 departs from Hue station at 7:45 a.m. and arrives at Da Nang station at 10:35 a.m.; train HD3 departs from Hue station at 2:25 p.m. and arrives at Da Nang at 5:40 p.m. In Da Nang, train HD2 departs from Da Nang station at 7:50 a.m. and arrives at Hue station at 11:05 a.m.; train HD4 departs from Da Nang station at 3:00 p.m. and arrives at Hue station at 5:45 p.m. During the opening month, Vietnam Railways Corporation will apply a preferential ticket price of VND150,000/ticket; monthly ticket price of VND900,000/ticket (monthly tickets purchased at the stations only) and a discount of 10-50% for passengers who are policy beneficiaries.
