This event is a meaningful activity in the series of celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Hanoi and Hue (1960-2025). The exhibition celebrates the blend of court and folk culture, especially the art of Bat Trang pottery making by the people of Thang Long (Hanoi) and Phuoc Tich pottery by the people of Phu Xuan (Hue). Through this, it highlights the traditional characteristics and innovations in each stage of production of these two once-famous pottery lines that are still preserved today.

Mr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám Cultural and Scientific Activities Center, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giám Cultural and Scientific Activities Center, said: “Through this exhibition, we aim to honor the value of traditional pottery making, while highlighting the cultural link between the North and Central regions, contributing to spreading the spirit of the Hanoi - Hue sister city relationship in the contemporary context. This is also an opportunity for the public to better understand the role of handicraft heritage in today's life, thereby raising awareness of preserving and promoting national cultural heritage.”

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the thematic exhibition "From Thang Long to Phu Xuan - The Journey of Vietnamese Ceramics".

The exhibition space is designed as a cultural journey, where two traditional pottery traditions meet, dialogue, and tell stories about the land and people intertwined over the years. The exhibition focuses on introducing Bat Trang pottery – a thousand-year-old heritage of Thang Long – Hanoi, with its distinctive shaping techniques, glaze formulas, and heat application methods; and Phuoc Tich pottery – the essence of the land of the Phu Xuan – Hue inhabitants, linked to the historical flow of the Thuan Hoa – Phu Xuan region, the system of ancient village architectural heritage, and the traditional handcrafted pottery making process.

Speaking at the exhibition, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc, Director of the Hue City History Museum, shared: “This event also aims to convey a message about preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values ​​of Thang Long (Hanoi) and Phu Xuan (Hue), while honoring the silent contributions of Bat Trang and Phuoc Tich pottery artisans in preserving and promoting the traditional values ​​of the craft villages. From there, it contributes to educating the younger generation about preserving the beautiful traditional culture passed down from our ancestors to present and future generations.”
