An Giang promotes the construction and development of civilized and modern urban areas.
Rural development
The province currently has 80/110 communes recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the standards of new-style rural communes (reaching a rate of 72.7%); 38 communes meeting the standards of advanced new-style rural communes (reaching a rate of 47.5%); 8 communes meeting the standards of model new-style rural communes. The province continues to maintain 3 district-level units recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting the standards of new-style rural districts, completing the task of building new-style rural areas, including: Chau Doc City, Long Xuyen and Thoai Son District. In 2023, Thoai Son District will be recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting the standards of advanced new-style rural districts.
The most obvious change can be seen in the rural infrastructure system. Thousands of kilometers of roads have been concreted and asphalted, creating favorable conditions for travel, transporting goods and trading. The national power grid covers the entire countryside, ensuring a stable source of energy for production and daily life. Schools have been built spaciously. The grassroots health care network has been strengthened, improving the quality of initial medical examination and treatment for the people.
In particular, An Giang has made a breakthrough in developing agriculture towards sustainability and applying high technology. Many effective production models, linked by value chains, have been formed, helping to improve productivity, quality of agricultural products and increase income for farmers. The One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has been strongly implemented, contributing to promoting local specialties, creating more motivation for rural economic development. The province also focuses on preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, building a rich and healthy spiritual and cultural life in the countryside.
In the bright picture of the new rural areas of An Giang, My Hoa Hung commune (Long Xuyen city) has emerged as a typical example of a new rural model in production. “With the consensus and joint efforts of the entire political system and the people, My Hoa Hung has achieved achievements in many fields. The socio-economic infrastructure of the commune has been invested synchronously. The area of rice harvested by machinery reached 100%, the mechanization in the field of cultivation reached 94.6%, helping the commune complete the criteria and targets of the National Target Program on building new rural areas. Besides traditional agriculture, the commune also focuses on developing small-scale industries, services, and eco-tourism. Many effective production models applying high technology have been implemented, bringing stable income to the people. The material life of the people is increasingly improved" - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Committee of My Hoa Hung commune, Duong Anh Dung, shared.
Elevating urban life
Along with the construction of new rural areas, An Giang has promoted the construction and development of civilized and modern urban areas. Cities and towns in the province have been planned and invested in developing synchronous technical and social infrastructure. Key traffic works have been built, contributing to connecting economic regions and improving transportation capacity. Urban beautification has been focused on, roads and sidewalks have been upgraded, and public lighting systems have been invested in. Parks and trees have been built and renovated, creating green, clean, and beautiful spaces for the city.
Long Xuyen City and Chau Doc City are two urban areas that play the role of economic and cultural centers of the province, and are striving to build civilized urban criteria. The rate of main streets with lighting reaches 100%. The rate of households using clean water reaches nearly 100%. Urban order management and environmental sanitation are focused on. The rate of collection and treatment of solid waste in urban areas reaches over 90%. Security and order are ensured, contributing to creating a safe and friendly living environment for urban residents.
“Witnessing the positive changes of Long Xuyen City in the process of building a civilized urban area, I am very excited. From more spacious and clean roads to modern public works, people's lives are becoming more and more convenient and of better quality. We look forward to a bright future, where Long Xuyen will develop more and more and deserve to be a civilized and livable urban area” - Mr. Nguyen Van Xung (residing in My Hoa ward) shared.
An Giang is promoting the application of information technology in urban management. Security surveillance cameras are installed on many roads and public areas. Level 3 and 4 online public services are deployed, facilitating people and businesses in handling administrative procedures. In addition, the province focuses on building a civilized urban lifestyle, raising people's awareness of law compliance, maintaining social order and safety, and protecting the environment. Cultural, sports, and tourism activities are promoted, creating highlights and attractiveness for the city.
The above figures show the efforts and encouraging achievements of An Giang on the dual journey of building new rural areas and civilized urban areas. The harmonious development between rural and urban areas helps improve the material and spiritual quality of life for people, creating a strong driving force for the socio-economic development of the whole province.
