In early September 2025, we had the opportunity to visit the chestnut growing model in Na Va village, Ba Son commune. Taking us to visit the chestnut garden full of fruit, competing to bloom, Mr. Trieu Van Tung excitedly said: My family has been growing chestnuts for nearly 6 years, initially only planted about 250 trees, seeing the trees grow and develop well, after 3 years of planting, they started to bear fruit and harvest, the economic value is high so my family gradually expanded the area. Up to now, the family has planted 600 chestnut trees. Currently, the family mainly promotes products on social networks such as: Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok... so not only customers in the province but also customers outside the province order a lot.

Not only promoting chestnut products on social networking platforms and sales channels, many gardeners in the province also take advantage to develop agricultural tourism and chestnut picking experiences to meet the increasing needs of customers.

Mr. Lang Van Hoang, Quang Lien 2 block, Luong Van Tri ward shared: My family has been growing chestnuts since 2019, with an area of over 1 hectare. After 4 years of planting, the trees started to bear fruit and yield a harvest, with high economic value, so my family renovated the garden and decorated the landscape for visitors to experience picking chestnuts in the garden. When arriving at the chestnut garden, visitors are given baskets, scissors, harvesting gloves and are free to visit the garden. Thanks to increased promotion, many customers from other provinces have learned about the family's chestnut products. At this time, many groups of tourists from Hanoi have made appointments to come to the garden to experience picking chestnuts on weekends. On average, each year, the family harvests about 1 to 1.5 tons of chestnuts, with a selling price of 80,000 to 100,000 VND/kg of fresh chestnuts and 110,000 to 150,000 VND/kg of roasted, shelled chestnuts, bringing in an income of nearly 150 million VND/year.

Not only Mr. Tung and Mr. Hoang, in recent years, many households in the province have invested in and developed the chestnut growing model. The model has been bringing practical results, helping people increase their income. Currently, traders come directly to the place to buy fresh chestnuts, so there is no need to worry about product output. In addition, many chestnut growers also take advantage of promoting their products on social networking platforms to expand their consumption markets.

According to statistics, up to now, the whole province has over 219 hectares of chestnuts, chestnut trees are mainly grown in Luong Van Tri ward and some communes such as Cao Loc, Cong Son... The estimated output is about 159 tons/year. With the selling price from 60,000 - 100,000 VND/kg, on average each chestnut growing household earns from 60 to 100 million VND/year.

Mr. Tran Tien Nguyen, Chairman of the People's Committee of Luong Van Tri Ward, said: Currently, the ward has more than 100 hectares of chestnuts, mainly in blocks such as Quang Trung, Quang Hong, Quang Lien... To gradually increase the economic value of chestnuts, in recent times, the ward has promoted propaganda and mobilized chestnut growers to promote products on social networking platforms, combining production with the development of experiential tourism so that visitors can both harvest and enjoy chestnuts, and at the same time, diversify delicious dishes made from chestnuts such as chestnut cakes, chestnut milk, chestnut sticky rice... In particular, every year, to attract and create highlights from chestnut products, the ward organizes a "Chestnut Festival", thereby contributing to promoting chestnut products to a large number of tourists inside and outside the province as well as gradually moving towards experiential agricultural tourism. Currently, the whole ward has 12 garden houses open to welcome visitors to visit and experience chestnut picking. In the coming time, the ward will continue to guide households to develop chestnut products into OCOP products to meet the increasing needs of customers.

Mr. Do Minh Duc, Hoang Mai Ward, Hanoi City said: In early September 2025, my wife and children visited the chestnut garden in Luong Van Tri Ward. Unlike chestnuts in other places, the chestnuts here are very rich, sweet and fragrant. My family members, from adults to children, are very excited to visit, take souvenir photos and buy products here.

With the initiative of the people and the attention of all levels and sectors, we believe that the value of Xu Lang chestnut products will increase day by day, making this crop a key crop, creating a source of income for many households in the area.
