The effectiveness of economic models of Van Hai commune youth

Visiting the aquaculture model of young man Nguyen Van Duong, Dong Cuong village, Van Hai commune, we were surprised by the large-scale investment economic model with scientific planning.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duong shared: With the support of the People's Committee of Van Hai commune in terms of land consolidation and plot exchange for households to establish high-income fields, in 2012, I converted 1 hectare of ineffective low-lying rice fields into an aquaculture model with grass carp and common carp farming, interspersed with tilapia farming. Initially, establishing the model was very difficult due to the lack of electricity, facilities, capital, and techniques.

Overcoming difficulties, with a spirit of learning, Mr. Nguyen Van Duong has researched and learned experiences and techniques from the Internet, from practical models that have been effective in localities, from union members and youth in neighboring areas; from sharing and exchanging experiences of members of the Van Hai Commune Youth Aquaculture Club. At the same time, with access to capital sources for production and business, he has expanded the pond area to 3 hectares (4 fish ponds and 2 shrimp ponds).

Thanks to proactive breeding, grasping farming techniques, along with experience accumulated over 10 years of aquaculture, in recent years, the model has been practically effective, shrimp and fish are resistant to diseases and grow well.

On average, 1 hectare of water surface produces 25-30 tons of various types of commercial fish and tons of shrimp per year. After deducting expenses, the model earns a profit of over 300 million VND per year. Currently, young man Nguyen Van Duong is both the Director of the Van Hai Commune Aquatic Cooperative and the Chairman of the Van Hai Commune Youth Aquatic Club.

The aquaculture model of Mr. Tran Van Hoang, An Cu hamlet, Van Hai commune is also one of the typical youth models of Van Hai commune Youth Union. The model has an aquaculture area of 1 hectare, raising grass carp, common carp, and tilapia.

Mr. Tran Van Hoang shared: Wishing to get rich on my homeland, I chose to start a business with the aquaculture economic model. For more than 10 years since the model was established, I have been consulted and assisted by the People's Committee, the Youth Union, the Aquaculture Cooperative of Van Hai Commune, and the Aquaculture Youth Club of Van Hai Commune on support policies, farming techniques, breeds, animal feed, etc., which have helped me overcome difficulties. Currently, the model generates a profit of about 200 million VND per year.

In order to contribute to the effective implementation of the program of accompanying young people in starting a business, in the past year, Van Hai Commune Youth Union has effectively maintained collective economic development models among young people, implemented many solutions to promote propaganda, mobilize and create conditions, encourage young people to start a business. Including the role of leading, orienting, uniting and helping each other of the economic development youth club in the area.

Mr. Hoang Trong Quy, Secretary of Van Hai Commune Youth Union, said: In addition to focusing on propaganda work and raising awareness for union members and young people about building a startup and innovation ecosystem, Van Hai Commune Youth Union has promoted consulting and guiding union members and young people to access capital sources according to Resolution 103/2023/NQ-HDND dated July 12, 2023 of the Provincial People's Council on promulgating regulations on policies to support loans for startups and production and business development for young people in Ninh Binh province; through the Social Policy Bank channel to participate in borrowing capital for economic development.

The commune Youth Union has paid attention to organizing training courses to equip members and youth with knowledge and skills in starting a business in building images, brands and promoting products. Since then, more and more effective models led by members and youth have emerged, promoting the socio-economic development of the locality.

Van Hai commune currently has about 12 economic models led by young people, in areas such as: welding, mud suction machine manufacturing workshop, wedding stage rental business, goat and rabbit farming, industrial sewing, aquaculture... At the same time, many young people are members of Van Hai commune's aquatic cooperative; Van Hai commune's youth aquatic club has been established with 8 members.

In the coming time, the Commune Youth Union will actively grasp the situation, needs and aspirations of young people in economic development to have orientation, advice as well as coordinate with related sectors to create conditions for transferring science and technology, varieties, experiences, organize study tours of economic models inside and outside the district to orient, support and help young people start and establish successful businesses. Thereby solving employment, increasing income, creating motivation for union members and young people to get rich in their hometown.
