Understand tradition, love mission more

At that time, after fierce air raids, an American battalion appeared and swept into the Tam Bo area, Chau Duc district (Ba Ria-Vung Tau). Waiting for the American troops to be only about 5-7m away from the trenches, the Regiment opened fire simultaneously, the infantry moved to attack the enemy outside the trenches, fighting hand-to-hand, not allowing them to divide the lines. The soldiers were clever and brave, using AK submachine guns, grenades, and bayonets to fight close combat with the American soldiers. Being attacked unexpectedly and fiercely, some of the enemy troops were destroyed, some fled.

In a day of combined defensive and offensive fighting, the 4th Regiment destroyed a large part of the American battalion of the "Big Brother Red" Division (1st Infantry Division, US Army), eliminated 300 enemies from combat, and captured many weapons and equipment. In the first direct battle with the American army, the Regiment built confidence among officers and soldiers that, with the weapons and equipment we had, we could completely defeat the American enemy.

Soldier Le Hong Anh, Company 3, Battalion 1, expressed: "Witnessing with our own eyes the artifacts preserved through the Division's combat process, we are very moved and proud of the ingenious fighting spirit of our ancestors who built the tradition of the heroic Division. These documents and good combat experiences are lessons for us to apply in training, practice, and continue the feats of the previous generation."

During the resistance war against the US, to save the country, to protect the Fatherland and to carry out glorious international missions in Cambodia, the 5th Division fought more than 2,000 battles, achieved resounding victories, and was twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State; many collectives and individuals of the Division were also awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

Recognizing this invaluable traditional value, over the years, Division 5 has always promoted the role of all organizations, implementing many measures to improve the quality of traditionaleducation . The Division has produced traditional films and organized summaries of the events, experiences, time, location, and commanders of each typical battle into specific, concise documents, helping soldiers to easily understand and remember. The Division also named the typical battles and individuals who were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces for internal roads.

The units integrate traditional education through training, breaks on the training ground with many diverse forms, such as: "Every day a useful political question and answer"; "Quiz"... The youth organizations proactively coordinate with local unions and twinned units to organize many forms of extracurricular educational activities: Exchange with historical witnesses; discussion; research contest; culture and arts; building battle tables; integrating into folk and modern games...

Thanks to good educational measures, from the beginning of 2023 until now, 100% of officers and soldiers of the Division have identified their tasks well, strictly followed discipline, and built hundreds of effective youth works and projects.
