Immediately after defeating U23 Indonesia 1-0 in the final match on the evening of July 29, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team had an emotional celebration in the locker room. According to the video shared by VFF, the atmosphere exploded with cheers, applause and the song "As if Uncle Ho was here on the day of great victory" from the entire red team.
What is special is that coach Kim Sang-sik - who just had his first official tournament with U23 Vietnam, not only participated in singing but also performed the Vietnamese lyrics quite fluently. Standing next to language assistant Do Anh Van, the Korean strategist smiled brightly, clapped his hands and sang along with his students.
The victory over U23 Indonesia helped U23 Vietnam make history with 3 consecutive U23 Southeast Asian championships (2022, 2023 and 2025). The young Vietnamese team continued to demonstrate their bravery and resilient fighting spirit despite facing tremendous pressure from tens of thousands of home fans at the largest stadium in Southeast Asia.
The image of the Korean coach joining in the familiar song, celebrating with his students, shows the solidarity and unity that exists in the U23 Vietnam team.
According to the plan, this afternoon (July 30), U23 Vietnam will depart for home. The team is expected to land in Ho Chi Minh City at around 5:00 p.m., then transfer to Hanoi and land at 10:00 p.m.
