Group A of the tournament kicked off with the Malaysia-Philippines and Indonesia-Brunei matches. Head coach Kim Sang-sik and some assistants went directly to the stadium to monitor and evaluate potential opponents. Therefore, the training session of U23 Vietnam was assigned to assistant Lee Jung-soo according to the pre-prepared lesson plan.
The training session took place at Madya Stadium, not far from the team's base. However, due to Jakarta's typical traffic congestion, it took the team nearly 50 minutes to get there by bus.
Compared to the first recovery session, the amount of exercise this time was significantly increased. The main contents included team coordination, switching between attack and defense, and reviewing the squad. The session took place in a positive atmosphere, with all players trying to show themselves, competing for a starting position, and maintaining a high level of determination.

Speaking before the training session, defender Pham Ly Duc said: "The team's spirit is very good. The coaching staff always reminds us to stay healthy and ensure optimal physical condition before the tournament. The weather in Jakarta is quite similar to Vietnam, so it does not cause difficulty in adapting. In the first session, we mainly practiced to recover after the long trip, but today we are ready for a heavier workload."
Ly Duc also emphasized the consistent message from the head coach: “Coach Kim Sang-sik always requires each player to enter the field with more than 100% spirit and determination. Even if there is a slight pain, we must try to stand up and continue training. The championship in 2022 and 2023 is a source of pride and motivation for us to defend our achievements this season."
The defender born in 2003 added that after more than two weeks of training, the whole team is becoming more and more united, from the ability to coordinate, move to tactical communication on the field, all have clearly improved. In addition, the experience of many players competing in the V-League is also a great advantage, helping U23 Vietnam to be more confident when entering this year's tournament.
The opening match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Laos will take place at 5:00 p.m. on July 19 at Patriot Stadium, Bekasi (Indonesia).
