Coach Le Huynh Duc: 'I want players to play beautifully and passionately'

After only about 3 weeks of training the Ho Chi Minh City Police Club, Coach Le Huynh Duc brought home a 2-1 victory over Hanoi Club on the opening day of the 2025-2026 V-League on the evening of August 16.

Ho Chi Minh City Police Club delighted the audience at Thong Nhat Stadium. Striker Nguyen Tien Linh headed in a goal in the 2nd minute, and Vo Huy Toan scored the second goal for the home team.

After the match ended, Coach Le Huynh Duc and his players were extremely happy. He said the feeling of returning to the HCM City Police Club and winning was a strange feeling.

"We faced many difficulties when we only had about 20 days to prepare for the season. I would like to thank the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the team's leadership, and the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department for creating the opportunity for me to return to contribute.

"During the training process, I always encourage and motivate the players. I want to create the image of a united, determined and beautiful team. Of course, in football, the important thing is to win. Today, the players did very well in the spirit that I expected."

Facing a difficult opponent, Hanoi FC, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC scored an early goal and played defensive counter-attack. Coach Le Huynh Duc said that tactics must be based on the players.

"Today's tactical diagram is more defensive. In practice, I let the players practice a different diagram, but when we get into the game, I use a different tactic.

In the squad, the foreign players have just arrived and integrated. Some players only have 3-5 days to get acquainted and register for the competition, there are still many things to assemble. As for the young players, I only encourage them to play with all their might and confidence like Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong or Nguyen Duc Phu," he said.

Regarding rookie Nguyen Tien Linh, coach Le Huynh Duc commented: "Tien Linh plays aggressively, but if he had better support, he would have been able to perform even better. Today, Ho Chi Minh City Police Club played deep, so Tien Linh had many difficulties."

Coach Le Huynh Duc especially praised Le Quang Hung, who crossed for Tien Linh to head the ball: "When I was at Becamex Binh Duong Club, I wanted Quang Hung to stay with me. Even though he is old, in the right-back position, Quang Hung is still an excellent choice. He always plays at more than 100%, even 200% of his strength."

The 2-1 victory over Hanoi FC helped Ho Chi Minh City Police FC and Nam Dinh FC share the top spot in the 2025-2026 V-League standings.
