(HNMO) - On the afternoon of June 14, sharing at the press conference before the friendly match between the Vietnamese team and Hong Kong (China), coach Philippe Troussier affirmed that players Quang Hai, Cong Phuong, and Van Toan all met professional requirements and were ready for tomorrow's match.
Sharing about the preparation for the match taking place on the evening of June 15, coach Philippe Troussier shared: “After 1 week of training, all the players have made efforts to be able to operate the style of play that I want. I am satisfied with their attitude. Although there is not much time, I have tried to convey knowledge so that the players can enter the field with a ready mindset for my first match with the Vietnamese team."
Evaluating the adaptation of 3 players playing abroad, Cong Phuong, Van Toan and Quang Hai, coach Philippe Troussier said that all 3 showed desire, effort and dedication to the Vietnamese team.
“Quang Hai joined the team the earliest and has been practicing for a week. He has shown that he has integrated very well. Cong Phuong and Van Toan returned later, however, overall, I think all three players have shown their desire and dedication to the national team,” said coach Philippe Troussier.
The match against Hong Kong will be the first time Philippe Troussier has led the Vietnamese team. According to experts, this is not a very strong opponent. However, the French strategist is still cautious. He said: "I heard the Hong Kong coach say that their team is weaker. He cited that Hong Kong's FIFA ranking is 50 places lower than Vietnam's. But in football, strength is not on paper. We respect Hong Kong. Having qualified for the Asian Cup, they certainly have the desire to perform at their best. The Vietnamese team will try 200% tomorrow. We have also studied them through video footage of recent matches."
“Of course, a team always wants to win, but I also value experimenting with the way they play. To do that, the players must be able to transform real situations well, especially with the ball at the end of the field. It will not be easy, but requires the effort of the whole team, because there is no opponent that is easy for the Vietnamese team to pressure and play comfortably throughout the match. A victory tomorrow will give the whole team strength. That will be the foundation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November,” said Mr. Philippe Troussier.
