After a 2024-2025 season that stretched all the way to the FIFA Club World Cup, coach Pep Guardiola and his players are enjoying a break. Man City ended the season with a surprise 3-4 defeat to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal after extra time on June 30 at the FIFA Club World Cup.
Ahead of the new season, Guardiola was spotted visiting the Monarka Clinic in Barcelona, a centre that specialises in high-performance regenerative and recovery therapies. What surprised fans was that the 54-year-old strategist shaved off his signature beard, leaving behind only a moustache.

Guardiola's new look has been an instant talking point, with some City fans jokingly suggesting that the bold look could be a good sign for the club's fortunes in the upcoming season, after a "disappointing" 2024-25 campaign.
"The Premier League should be scared," one fan commented.
"Can't not win the Premier League with that moustache," another commented wittily.
"Yes, we're here to reclaim the throne. With Pep and his new moustache look," a third added.
Many have also compared Guardiola's new look to Ted Lasso, the main character in Apple TV's hit series - a series in which the Man City coach himself made a cameo appearance.
The new look also reminded fans of Guardiola's admiration for a reporter's beard in 2021. At a press conference, Guardiola once told TNT Sports reporter Fred Caldeira: "I really like your moustache, Fred. You're so attractive and charming."
The reason behind Pep's clinic visit
Guardiola's visit to the Monarka Clinic in Barcelona comes a month after he announced his investment in the facility. The Manchester City boss revealed he had suffered from chronic back pain, which he said was relieved after being treated by Mireia Illueca, a neurosurgeon who specialises in pain and minimally invasive surgery.
After checking his investment, Guardiola will return to take charge of Man City's pre-season training next Monday.
Man City currently have just one friendly match against Italian side Palermo on August 9, before starting the Premier League season on August 16 with a match against Wolves.
