The upgrading of the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership in March 2025 is a historic milestone, opening a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries, in which political , defense and security cooperation are important pillars.

In the coming time, the Vietnamese Minister of National Defense suggested that the two sides continue to strengthen the trustworthy, comprehensive, and substantive cooperative relationship, focusing on delegation exchanges, meetings, and contacts at high and all levels; continue to effectively promote existing mechanisms, especially the defense policy dialogue mechanism at the deputy ministerial level; cooperation in training, military services, etc.
At the talks, the two sides also discussed the world and regional situation and issues of mutual concern. Regarding maritime issues, Vietnam's consistent stance is to resolve all disagreements in the East Sea by peaceful means, in accordance with international law.
Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. He said he was very moved when offering incense at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street (Hanoi); and offering flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin also expressed that the defense cooperation between the two countries demonstrates mutual trust and respect.

The Indonesian Minister of Defense also highly appreciated this visit to Vietnam and said that this is a milestone in the defense cooperation relationship between the two countries.
Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin suggested that in the coming time, the two countries' defense ministries need to further promote cooperation to match the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Indonesia.
