Indonesia U23 coach chased away and refused to shake hands with coach Kim Sang Sik
Indonesia U23's dream of winning the Southeast Asian U23 Championship at home was shattered when they lost 0-1 to Vietnam U23 in the final match on the evening of July 29. After the match, coach Gerald Vanenburg was really angry and behaved inappropriately.
In the viral video , when coach Kim Sang Sik approached to shake hands, Mr. Vanenburg waved his hand and showed an unfriendly attitude, causing the Korean coach to immediately turn away with an unpleasant expression.
Notably, Vanenburg still shook hands with the U23 Vietnam players. This shows that he only showed tension with coach Kim Sang Sik, and had no problem with the U23 Vietnam players.

Many believe that Vanenburg’s reaction stemmed from a controversial incident at the end of the match, when coach Kim Sang Sik was accused of deliberately obstructing Indonesia U23 player Robi Darwis from taking a throw-in during extra time. This action resulted in the Korean coach receiving a yellow card from the referee.
The match also witnessed another tense situation outside the field. When the Indonesian U23 players were preparing to take a throw-in, some members of the Vietnamese U23 coaching staff scattered water bottles outside the sideline.
This caused Indonesia's assistant goalkeeper coach, Damian van Rensburg, to rush to the U23 Vietnam technical area to clean up. As a result, the assistant coach of U23 Indonesia received a direct red card from the referee.
After winning the Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Vietnam U23 will prepare for two important tournaments ahead: the Asian U23 qualifying round in September and the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.
