Support businesses and cooperatives to develop e-commerce

In the context of a rapidly developing digital economy, e-commerce has become a key strategy for businesses and cooperatives to expand their markets. With the advantage of many typical agricultural products, Son La province has synchronously implemented support programs to help businesses, cooperatives and farmers apply e-commerce, optimize production and business, and expand consumption markets.

The province has paid attention to and implemented e-commerce development synchronously, focusing on three main pillars, including: Building a legal foundation, improving human resource capacity and developing modern digital infrastructure. The Department of Industry and Trade has consulted with the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan for e-commerce development in Son La province for the period 2021-2025, annual e-commerce promotion and development plans. The Provincial People's Committee has coordinated with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade to successfully organize the Conference on orientation for sustainable e-commerce development in Son La province, establishing strategic orientations and creating important connections for the entire digital business community in the province.

The Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with Vietnam Post Corporation to organize a livestream at the Plum Picking Festival in Phieng Khoai commune to promote product consumption.

Infrastructure development and digital solutions are identified as key tasks to promote e-commerce. In the period of 2021-2025, the province will focus on building and improving human resource capacity through the following main activities: Supporting businesses and cooperatives to build 14 websites and 3 sales management software; creating videos , images, and articles introducing Son La's agricultural products on digital platforms; building and maintaining information pages about businesses, cooperatives, and agricultural products of Son La province at the website https://agritradepage.vn in 3 languages: Vietnamese, English, and Chinese.

Along with that, the Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy to build the Son La e-commerce platform (www.sonla.sanviet.vn) integrated into the unified e-commerce platform Sanviet.vn managed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. At the same time, successfully coordinated and organized 19 training courses on e-commerce, digital transformation, cashless payment, practical livestream skills and sales explosion for nearly 1,500 trainees who are managers and production and business entities.

Attending the training conference to improve e-commerce application skills in 2025 for enterprises, cooperatives and business households in Chieng An ward, Ms. Lo Thi Thinh, Ai village, shared: I have a store at Chieng An market. A year ago, my sister and I livestreamed to sell used clothes and shoes, earning about 10 million VND/month. However, we had to temporarily stop because it was difficult to maintain interaction, difficult to close orders and got stuck with some policies of the e-commerce platform. After today's training session, I have gained more knowledge to overcome previous limitations and will soon livestream to sell again.

Training conference to improve e-commerce application skills in 2025.

Trade promotion activities and product consumption support via e-commerce are focused, the province has proactively put products on reputable platforms, including: 60 products promoted on Son La e-commerce platform (sonla.sanviet.vn) and Sanviet.vn; 150 types of agricultural products, OCOP and specialties on buudien.vn. Since 2021, Son La has continuously organized "Son La Specialty Day" on Sendo, Voso and PostMart online fairs.

Livestream sales have made a clear breakthrough. Typically, the 4-hour livestream at the Phieng Khoai Plum Picking Festival in 2025 attracted more than 20,000 views, consuming over 13 tons of plums. The large-scale Mega Livestream session of the OCOP Son La Market, with the participation of KOLs/KOCs, broadcast live on TikTok Shop, Vnpost.vn and many other platforms, recorded 5.8 million views and consumed 12 tons of plums, mangoes and many other local agricultural products.

Not only the domestic market, the province also supports businesses to expand internationally through promotion and sales on Alibaba.com, Agrimp, EC21.com. At the same time, connecting and supporting the consumption of coffee products in the markets: UK, Germany, Australia and China.

Officials of Vietnam Post Corporation cooperated with people of Phieng Khoai commune to livestream selling plums right in the garden.

Ms. Le Thi Huong, Director of Huong Mo Green Agriculture Cooperative, Phieng Khoai Commune, shared: With the support of the Department of Industry and Trade in promoting and consuming plums on e-commerce platforms, the cooperative's products are known to many consumers. Cooperative members have learned livestreaming skills and built their own sales channels on TikTok and Facebook. The cooperative maintains daily live streaming from the garden to the packaging area, helping customers clearly see the freshness of the products.

Putting agricultural products on e-commerce platforms has opened up more channels for consumption and promotion, spreading the image to consumers, increasing revenue and product value. At the same time, it encourages cooperatives, businesses and farmers to apply technology, improve product quality, promote international trade, and bring Son La agricultural products further.
