The Regional Linkage Conference in Lai Chau is part of a series of events to promote cooperation between localities, contribute to the development of e-commerce and expand the market for goods consumption through modern distribution channels.
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien has just signed and issued Decision No. 1970/QD-BCT on the Action Plan to implement Directive No. 18/CT-TTg dated June 18, 2025 of the Prime Minister to promote trade promotion and digital transformation in production and business activities in 2025.
According to the plan, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy will coordinate with domestic and international e-commerce platforms to implement a program to connect and support the consumption of goods through the online environment. Priority will be given to small and medium enterprises, cooperatives, craft villages and local production facilities. At the same time, the Ministry also encourages the launch of programs to promote Vietnamese goods and regional specialties on digital platforms, thereby expanding the domestic consumption market and aiming for exports.
One of the focuses is in-depth training and guidance on digital technology applications for businesses, including cross-border e-commerce, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence (AI), thereby helping businesses increase their competitiveness and participate more deeply in the global value chain.
Along with that, the Trade Promotion Department and related units such as the Import-Export Department, the Foreign Market Development Department... will strengthen the implementation of specialized trade promotion programs for each industry in key markets such as the EU, the United States, China, Japan, Korea, and ASEAN.
The Department of E-commerce cooperates with BIDV to raise awareness and skills in applying e-commerce and digital payments for businesses and small traders.
Regional linkages and substantive training
In recent times, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy has implemented a series of programs to promote e-commerce associated with regional development. Notably, regional linkage conferences such as those in the Central region and Lai Chau aim to connect localities with modern distribution systems and encourage the application of digital technology in business.
Through the Center for E-commerce and Digital Technology Development (eComDX), the Department has organized many training courses in provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Tra Vinh, Hung Yen, Gia Lai, Quang Tri... to help businesses and cooperatives grasp legal knowledge, digital business skills, livestream strategies, personal branding, AI applications and other digital tools.
Training programs not only focus on theory but also practice skills such as monitoring e-commerce activities, building communication strategies and operating multi-channel sales. In particular, vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and young entrepreneurs also have access to separate programs to participate in the digital economy.
These activities are completely consistent with the objectives set out in Decision No. 1970/QD-BCT on the Action Plan of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement Directive No. 18/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister. In particular, programs to connect e-commerce and promote the consumption of Vietnamese products through online platforms, along with the acceleration of digital transformation and the application of modern technologies such as AI and Big Data, have created many opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives and production establishments. These efforts not only help businesses expand their markets and improve their capacity, but also promote export capabilities, especially for businesses in localities.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan, Director of eComDX Center, said that in the coming time, the Center will continue to deploy specialized training courses according to four pillars: GoOnline - supporting businesses to establish a digital presence and develop online sales; GoExport - supporting connections with cross-border e-commerce platforms, promoting digital exports; GoAI - training on artificial intelligence applications in marketing, operations, customer care and public management; GoRight - updating the legal framework and standardizing e-commerce activities, building sustainable brands.
These programs contribute to improving digital transformation capacity for local businesses, creating a premise for sustainable growth and digital economic integration.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s action plan aims to not only promote the application of digital technology, but also popularize e-commerce skills to every locality and every enterprise, especially in remote areas. Thereby, Vietnamese enterprises can take full advantage of opportunities from the rapidly growing digital economy in the region and globally.
