Vietnamese beauty queens compete in Lunar New Year films in 2025.

To date, the Lunar New Year 2025 film projects have been released, attracting attention thanks to their casts, directors, and producers. Although from different directors, the three most prominent films all explore the theme of a "love triangle."

"Love triangle" content dominates the airwaves.

Following the success of "The Godfather," "Mrs. Nu's House," and "Mai," Tran Thanh returns with "The Four Vengeful Spirits" for the 2025 Lunar New Year. The film promises to bring plenty of laughter during the holiday season.

When the trailer was released, viewers were naturally curious about the love story between Quynh Anh (played by Miss Vietnam Tieu Vy), Quoc Anh (played by Quoc Anh), and Karen (played by Miss Vietnam Ky Duyen). The film revolves around the love story of the married couple Quynh Anh and Quoc Anh; however, when Karen appears, everything changes completely.

Karen's line of advice to Quynh Anh impressed viewers: "Trust me. If a man can't give you better things than you can give yourself, then just forget about him." This line also led viewers to question Karen's real reason for interfering in Quynh Anh and Quoc Anh's relationship. Many believe that the person Karen is truly pursuing is Quynh Anh, and this could be a surprise in "The Four Vengeful Spirits."

Another film that has garnered considerable attention is "Falling in Love with My Best Friend," directed by Nguyen Quang Dung and Diep The Vinh. This project is expected to explore the theme of "one girl, two guys" and the complications of a love triangle involving the characters: Binh An (played by Kaity Nguyen), Bao Toan (played by Tran Ngoc Vang), and Vu Tran (played by Thanh Son).

"Falling in Love with My Best Friend" is adapted from the popular Thai drama of the same name, revolving around the romantic relationship between two close friends of opposite sexes. Before realizing their feelings for each other, both must witness each other's past heartbreaking love affairs.

Similar to "Falling in Love with My Best Friend," director Thu Trang's "Billion Dollar Kiss" also explores a love triangle involving "one woman and two men." The film stars... Miss Thien An, Le Xuan Tien, and Ma Ran Do. According to the synopsis, "The Billion Dollar Kiss" revolves around Van, a bread vendor who accidentally encounters two men in an accident. One is mature and masculine, while the other is arrogant and charismatic, drawing Van into a love triangle.

"Falling in Love with My Best Friend" and "The Four Vengeful Spirits" also share another interesting common point: both films feature Tran Thanh.

Despite appearing in two Lunar New Year films, the male artist affirmed that he wasn't "taking on all the Lunar New Year films," but rather it was simply a stroke of luck during this year's Lunar New Year season.

The performance of the beauty queens is intriguing.

One of the things that makes the 2025 Lunar New Year film race so exciting is the participation of a star-studded lineup of beauty queens such as Miss Tiểu Vy, Miss Thiên Ân, and Miss Kỳ Duyên – names that dominated social media in 2024.

In 2024, Miss Tiểu Vy had a small role in the film "Mai," and in 2025, she was given the lead role in "The Four Revengeful Figures" by Tran Thanh. Taking on the lead role in "The Four Revengeful Figures," Tiểu Vy admitted that pressure was unavoidable. Despite some initial doubts, many viewers felt reassured by the trailer, as the character Quỳnh Anh's personality is quite similar to Tiểu Vy's in real life.

Miss Vietnam 2018 also cut her hair short to suit this role. She also wasn't afraid to transform herself with unusual looks, even downplaying her beauty in many scenes.

While Tiểu Vy has been involved in film for quite some time, Miss Thiên Ân and Miss Kỳ Duyên are both new faces. Taking on the lead female role in a feature film for the first time, Thiên Ân dedicated a lot of time to honing her acting skills and preparing mentally for the character: “I felt pressured before filming started and during filming. Before going to sleep, I would put my hand to my forehead and think a lot about the role.”

"Luckily, I received dedicated guidance and instruction from my colleagues, which helped me understand and create the character while staying true to the emotional flow of the story." Before "The Billion Dollar Kiss," Thien An also played Bay Loan in "The Prince of Bac Lieu," however, it didn't really make an impression because it was only a small role.

Also a newcomer, Miss Ky Duyen surprised everyone with her appearance and voice in the trailer for "The Four Vengeful Spirits". Ky Duyen affirmed that film is an art form she is passionate about and will seriously pursue. Previously, she also participated in an acting course taught by People's Artist Le Khanh to hone her skills and knowledge in the seventh art.
