Artists performing in the C asean Consonant program.
The program is organized by the Vietnam National Academy of Music and C asean - a social organization aiming to strengthen connectivity in the ASEAN region.
C asean Consonant is an ASEAN traditional music ensemble that uses music as a medium to weave together the different cultural heritages of ASEAN countries and thereby build stronger friendships and cooperation. Starting in 2015 in Thailand, C asean Consonant's journey has passed through Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia. This year's destination of C asean Consonant is Vietnam. This is a playground for the younger generation to share, learn, develop and preserve ASEAN traditional music.
Speaking at the program, Associate Professor Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, shared that the academy was delighted to cooperate with C asean to co-organize the concert “Friendship across borders”. This is not just a simple art performance but also contains messages about friendship and solidarity between countries. The concert also wishes to express respect for traditional music; promote, introduce and preserve traditional music so that future generations continue to have the opportunity to enjoy it.
Dr. Agapol Na Songkhla - representative of C asean said, C asean Consonant is the only ASEAN traditional musical instrument ensemble consisting of 10 talented traditional instrumentalists from 10 different ASEAN countries, sharing unique sounds and cultures, together creating harmony and peaceful cooperation. This is a place for the younger generation to learn, listen, respect and support each other to create unity in music. C asean Consonant also connects experienced music consultants with the energetic and creative young generation. Hopefully, the concert will contribute to promoting deeper cooperation and understanding between ASEAN member countries and generations.
