The products at the exhibition are created on Canson paper and especially the giang paper of the Mong people. The exhibition hopes to preserve the traditional cultural values of Vietnam in the painting industry and spread the beauty of giang paper internationally.
The work Memories of Indochina by artist Nicolás López
Giang paper is not a type of paper favored by professional artists because it is very thin, difficult to shape when drawing and easily causes the watercolor to fade. Sharing the reason for choosing this type of paper to create, artist Nicolás said that for him, this type of paper is very interesting to explore , and at the same time it reminds him of the land of Peru where he lives. In addition, because Nicolás's painting style always has color bleeding in his works, giang paper is very suitable.
The Language of Water is both a manifesto expressing Nicolás’s signature painting technique and the name he chose for his series of solo exhibitions and workshops in many countries. His watercolors tell the inner story of people and indigenous cultures, exploring the diversity of the world through his artistic journeys from Peru to Europe, Asia and now Vietnam.
