On April 24 (local time) at the Court of Judicial District No. 9 of Orange County (Florida, USA), the pre-trial hearing of singer Lynda Trang Dai accused of petty theft took place as scheduled.
This time, Lynda Trang Dai was absent, the lawyer representing Josephine Arroyo filed a request to postpone the first instance trial from around May 12-16 to July 22 and was approved by the judge.
In addition, Mr. Josephine also announced the waiver of the right to a speedy trial - the right to allow defendants to be brought to trial within a reasonable time after being charged to avoid being detained or having charges pending for too long without a conclusion.

The prosecutor confirmed that he had sent a list of witnesses related to the case to Lynda Trang Dai according to legal regulations.
On January 5 in Orlando (Florida, USA), singer Lynda Trang Dai was arrested by police and charged with first-degree theft - a misdemeanor for taking an Airpod accessory worth 330 USD (8.3 million VND) out of the Gucci store at The Mall at Millenia without paying.
Lynda Trang Dai was taken to the Orange County Jail. On January 6, she posted $1,000 bail and was released.
Sharing more with VietNamNet, an anonymous lawyer commented that singer Lynda Trang Dai's side is using legal rights to prolong the case.
"This move is very normal in litigation. There are many possibilities such as lawyers negotiating with prosecutors to resolve or arrange the outcome of the case; or simply need more time to prepare documents, witnesses...", this person said.
