Instead of being covered by endless stretches of golden sand, Gành Yến, located in Vạn Tường commune, Quảng Ngãi province, is famous for its black rock formations stacked on top of each other. This interesting arrangement by nature adds to the unique character of this destination.

As soon as you set foot on the gently sloping promontory where farmers are growing onions and garlic, a cool breeze from the sea blows in, like a warm welcome for those visiting Gành Yến for the first time. It still retains the salty taste of the Central Vietnamese sea breeze, yet Gành Yến is infused with a fascinating blend of cultural heritage.

The name Gành Yến (Swallow Cliff) comes from the fact that swallows frequently fly here to build and roost. The Gành Yến scenic area is nearly 2km long.

The terrain of stacked black rocks extending right up to the seawall creates ideal conditions for swallows to thrive. This black rock beach is the result of millions of years of geological formation. Volcanic deposits once existed, linked together in a long chain that embraces the coastline of what is now Van Tuong commune.

The waves at Gành Yến are not too high. The gentle ripples create a slight, pleasant sensation. Watching schools of fish swimming playfully in the clear blue water is a captivating experience, evoking a feeling of complete relaxation.

As community-based tourism develops in neighboring areas, residents of Gành Yến utilize basket boats as a means of transporting tourists for birdwatching, snorkeling, and coral viewing.

According to local experience, the best time to observe the coral colors is during low tide. At that time, the beach reveals coral of all sizes and diverse colors. Under the golden sunlight, a spectacular scene unfolds. Blue, red, orange, and yellow coral blend and intertwine, stretching as far as the eye can see.

Gành Yến boasts a unique geographical location, surrounded by numerous impressive cultural and historical heritage sites. As the crow flies, Gành Yến is situated 2km east of the Vạn Tường Victory National Monument, approximately 12km east of the Mỹ Thiện pottery village (Bình Sơn commune), about 7km northwest of Ba Làng An beach (Đông Sơn commune), and next to the Trà Bồng River. All these famous landmarks form a multi-layered, self-contained circle.

In recent years, tourism projects have funded the transfer of conservation knowledge and provided sustainable livelihoods to people living around Gành Yến. Gành Yến's unique potential is being protected and preserved through practical actions by the community.

The community's creativity is evident in the creation of miniature landscapes on the shore and floating rafts on the water, catering to the sightseeing needs of visitors from all over. As a result, a visit to Gành Yến is not just about experiencing and exploring , but more importantly, it becomes a visual "learning experience" about the environment.
