Implementing agricultural extension work in 2025 in the provinces of the Mekong Delta and the Southeast, the National Agricultural Extension Center has continued to deploy and open new central agricultural extension projects on rice production in the provinces of the Mekong Delta to serve the implementation of the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice.

Specifically, the projects apply technological processes on rice varieties and fertilizers. Use rice leaf color comparison charts to adjust the appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer, water management, integrated pest management, straw management, etc. Accordingly, with the harvested models, production costs are reduced by 8.2-24.2%/ha, specifically reducing: seed quantity (30-50%), fertilizer (30-70kg), irrigation water (30-40%), pesticide spraying times (1-4 times); productivity increases by 2.4-7%, increasing farmers' income by 12-50%, equivalent to 4-7.6 million VND/ha compared to traditional farming. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2-12 tons of CO2/ha; minimize straw burning, contributing to environmental protection. At the same time, support the building of the brand "Green Vietnamese rice, low emissions".

Through activities, agricultural extension systems, encourage and create consensus among people to participate in cooperatives, cooperative groups, promote production links between people - cooperatives - enterprises to ensure sustainable value chains, improve production efficiency and income for people and enterprises. Contribute to the formation of concentrated, large-scale commodity rice production areas in the direction of sustainable production, adapting to climate change.
