The total harvested aquatic and marine product output will reach 782,958 tons, achieving 100% of the plan, an increase of 2.81% compared to the same period in 2024 (harvested aquaculture output: 705,958 tons, exploitation output: 77,000 tons). Of this, the area for pangasius farming will be 820 hectares, exceeding the plan by 8.04%, with a harvested output of over 250,000 tons, achieving 100% of the plan; snakehead fish farming will have an area of 100 hectares, with a output of 13,500 tons; and whiteleg shrimp farming will have an area of 38,878 hectares, exceeding the plan by 1.51%, with a harvested output of 205,200 tons, achieving 100% of the plan. The tiger shrimp farming area covers 12,700 hectares, reaching 100% of the plan (a 3.67% increase compared to the same period last year), with a production of 24,500 tons, a 34.78% increase compared to the same period in 2024... The city currently has 79 aquaculture seed production and breeding facilities. During the year, they produced and bred 228.6 million tiger shrimp and whiteleg shrimp post-larvae, and 175.9 million fish fry of various types... ensuring quality and providing safe seed for farmers.
In 2026, Can Tho City will develop and implement a plan for aquaculture and fisheries exploitation that meets market demands. It will effectively implement the Fisheries Development Strategy for the period 2020-2030, with a vision to 2050, in accordance with practical realities.
