The book series has a harmonious combination of interesting knowledge and fresh, lovely plot, along with lively, witty drawings.
Appearing since 2018, up to now, the world of Zookiz has quickly won the hearts of children thanks to a group of mischievous and adorable characters, such as the mischievous rabbit Kiki, the gluttonous bear Bongbong, the grumpy "tiger dog" Alex, the silly pet mouse Ppuyo, the playful poodle Pang...
Not only are these cute icons on social media platforms, these cheerful characters have been developed by the author group into a long-running series of comics on the topic of fun science, for children aged 8-13 in Vietnam.
To create this comic book, the two authors Jae Hoon Choi and Myeong Seon Lee spent a lot of time researching and finding ideas from young Vietnamese readers. The knowledge in the book was referenced by the authors from Vietnamese textbooks to be as close as possible to the children's curriculum.
Explaining this, the group of authors shared: “Even if science comics only have a few familiar elements around life, children will find learning science more attractive. Based on that point of view, instead of choosing unfamiliar settings, we chose images and materials familiar to Vietnamese children to approach them more easily and interestingly.”
Through the science comic series, the two authors also hope that after accessing, reading and learning, children will love science more.
Also according to author Myeong Seon Lee, another interesting point of “Zookiz and the School of Mystery Science” is that the group of characters have similar personality traits to active children who love to explore everything around them. Therefore, young readers will see themselves in them and easily get absorbed in the story, and remember the scientific knowledge provided more easily.
