Learn financial knowledge through comics

(Dan Tri) - Basic issues about finance, currency, banking... are knowledge explained through everyday stories in books on financial education.

On the afternoon of August 18, Vietnam Education Publishing House in collaboration with Tan Viet Book Company organized the introduction of the book series "Financial Education" by author Le Thi Thuy Sen. This is a series of books on school finance, systematically designed for students from grade 1 to grade 12.

The book series provides basic financial knowledge, related to daily life, to form better financial thinking for students. The content of the book focuses on basic issues of finance, currency, and banking.

Knowledge about finance, banking... has always been considered dry, specialized, and difficult to access. However, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Sen said that in each lesson, she integrates folk songs, proverbs, and idioms with financial knowledge to help students remember, understand, absorb, and apply easily. The book also inspires filial piety, love for work, love for one's homeland and country, efforts, and responsibility and aspirations in life.

Ms. Le Thi Thuy Sen said: "Financial education is not just about imparting dry knowledge about money, saving or investing, but also a journey of sowing seeds of humanity - nurturing habits, behaviors, and creating good financial virtues."

Commenting on the book, Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Cuong, Member of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee, Vice Chairman of the State Council of Professors, said: "Financial education helps students gain basic knowledge about money, know how to use money appropriately, see the monetary policy management mechanism of the State Bank and understand financial relationships related to the use of money to consider and make appropriate choices when deciding to participate."

Author Le Thi Thuy Sen is currently Editor-in-Chief of Banking Times. Previously, Ms. Sen was Director of Communications Department, State Bank of Vietnam, with over 20 years of experience in finance - banking, communications, and insurance. She is also a consultant for a number of financial television programs.

At the end of 2023, Ms. Le Thi Thuy Sen also released the comic book "Be smart with money - Avoid worries". The comic book with nearly 30 stories revolves around basic knowledge on the topics of finance, currency, and investment. How money is born; what is inflation, deflation, interest rates, exchange rates; how much foreign currency to bring abroad or what to note when buying insurance... are also the contents introduced in the book.
