During the working trip to Pakse City, on the morning of September 18, 2025, the delegation of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SOCV) presented a Vietnamese Bookcase to the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School in Champasak province.
This is an initiative implemented by the NVNONN Committee in coordination with the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN), aiming to contribute to preserving and spreading the Vietnamese language in the Vietnamese community abroad.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the NVNONN Committee Nguyen Trung Kien praised the teaching and learning results of the school's teachers and students, and emphasized that the Vietnamese Bookcase will become a useful source of materials, helping students nurture their love for Vietnamese, develop a reading culture and expand their knowledge. The bookcase was selected by the Vietnam Education Publishing House - a unit with nearly 70 years of experience in publishing educational books. The content includes many rich genres, suitable for high school students: comics, folk tales, general science books, books on ethics and life skills... and documents supporting Vietnamese language learning.
The books not only help children approach Vietnamese in a natural and lively way, but also arouse national pride, contributing to fostering love for Vietnamese culture. The donation activity in Champasak is one of the highlights of the Vietnamese Language Honor Day Plan in 2025, with practical significance in connecting the Vietnamese community in Laos, while fostering the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
The Vietnamese Bookshelf is an initiative implemented by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese in collaboration with the Vietnam Education Publishing House, aiming to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language in the overseas Vietnamese community. The bookshelf's content is rich, including textbooks, children's stories, literature, history, life skills... suitable for students' learning needs as well as family cultural activities. The Vietnamese Bookshelf is considered a cultural bridge, contributing to preserving language, national identity and fostering love for the homeland in the young generation. This initiative was awarded the National Award for Foreign Information in 2023, affirming its practical value and wide reach.
Up to now, the Vietnamese Bookcase has been present in many countries with Vietnamese communities such as Budapest (Hungary), Fukuoka (Japan), Taiwan (China), Paris (France), Prague and Brno (Czech Republic), New Calendonia (France), Melbourne (Australia), Vientiane (Laos), Minks (Belarus), Udon Thani (Thailand), Stockholm (Sweden)... and will continue to expand in the near future.
