The idea for Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet, class 12A4, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted ( Da Nang ) came from a volunteer trip at a social protection center, interacting with many children with speech disorders. Through conversation, Hung and Kiet both realized that the children had many difficulties in communication and expression, so they came up with the idea of "making a machine" to help.
“From the initial idea to pass the rounds of competition such as school level, city level, national level, we spent time researching and discussing many times. In the process of realizing the idea into a product, we encountered many difficulties, but thanks to solidarity, knowing how to listen to find solutions together, we were able to create a product for disadvantaged children, especially children with speech disorders,” said Huynh Hung.

According to Tuan Kiet, because both of them are high school students in their final year, the team encountered difficulties in applying technical solutions and in practical testing during the project implementation process. Even arranging time to work together was a problem for Kiet and Hung because it coincided with their school schedules. Meanwhile, the product had to be tested many times to improve and perfect the robot's features.
"The robot must be used by children with speech disorders, interacting with the robot to collect data and adjust the project to make it feasible. This is also a difficulty in the testing process because it is not always favorable" - Kiet shared.
The project "TalkiEVBot - Robot to support education for children with speech disorders" by Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet belongs to the field of Robotics and Intelligent Machines. This is a product integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to support children with communication difficulties, helping them improve their ability to interact and learn.
The project won second prize at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair - ISEF 2025 held in the United States from May 11-16. The highlight of the project lies not only in its technical complexity but also in its humanistic message, that science and technology are tools to serve society, creating positive changes for disadvantaged groups. Another plus point of Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet is their ability to use English fluently, fluently, and convincingly with many difficult questions.
Representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang and teachers of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted welcomed and congratulated the delegation returning from the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Competition - ISEF 2025.
After returning from the competition, Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet hope that in the future, the robot product will be further improved in terms of features, reaching more children with speech disorders, and bringing this product to more people.
Ms. Le Pham Lien Chi, the project instructor of Huynh Huy Hung and Nguyen Nhat Tuan Kiet, said that during the process of students coming up with ideas, the instructors supported them with some related knowledge and skills. The remaining implementation and development of the ideas will be done by the students, the instructors mainly monitor and supervise the students during the implementation process. Through the time of implementing the idea from July 2024 to now, with the continuous efforts of the two students, the international second prize is a very worthy result.
Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Principal of Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, said that in addition to teaching and learning culture, the school focuses on scientific research among students. Along with academic clubs, the school has many creative clubs, which are playgrounds to encourage students to research, explore, and develop ideas into projects and topics to participate in competitions at all levels.
