Cinema Association proposes to review the case of 'Quyen Linh being edited to advertise fake milk'

On April 22, the Association representative said that they had received a petition from member Mai Huyen Linh (aka MC, actress Quyen Linh). In the petition, Quyen Linh said that he and his family, including two teenage daughters, were attacked by some individuals using social media. According to the actor, these individuals edited old photos of him, thereby creating a connection to the fake milk advertisement that has caused a stir in public opinion recently.

Quyen Linh believes that the incident has damaged his personal honor and reputation and negatively affected his family life. As a member, Quyen Linh hopes that the Association will intervene and protect him.

The Association then sent a document to the Ministry of Public Security, requesting consideration and measures to handle the illegal acts mentioned in the petition. This document was also sent to the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

"We welcome citizens to report illegal acts, but must follow legal procedures and limit the spread of false information if there is no official conclusion from the authorities," said a representative of the Association.

On April 16, Quyen Linh affirmed that he was "completely unrelated" and did not promote or sell any products from the production line of 573 types of fake milk powder that was recently discovered. The actor said he was collecting evidence and making a record of the false content to send to the competent authorities.

In 2023, Quyen Linh also said that he was impersonated to promote a functional food that "cures diabetes from the root" using image manipulation.

On April 21, a representative of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information said that actress Van Hugo will be fined 70 million VND for "exaggerating" the benefits of milk. On April 16, actor Doan Quoc Dam apologized for introducing a milk brand that was said to be from one of two companies in the group that produces fake milk. He said that at the time of filming the advertisement, the company provided full inspection documents. He only spoke according to the brand's script, not calling for the purchase and use of the product.
