This year's IELTS Prize has many changes compared to previous years, expanding the participants and adjusting the competition format, to create conditions for learners in many fields to share their IELTS conquest journey.
According to information from the British Council, the IELTS Prize 2025 does not limit the age or occupation of participants.
In addition to students planning to study abroad, the award is also aimed at teachers and individuals who are using IELTS as a tool for career development, study or professional development.
A notable new point is that instead of submitting an essay or letter of recommendation as before, candidates will make a video in English, up to 2 minutes long, sharing their personal journey according to a topic suitable for their target group.
Videos need to be publicly posted on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram or Threads, along with the program's official hashtags, then complete the application via the online form.
The first round will take place from April 15 to June 15, 2025. Selected candidates will continue to participate in the online interview round from July 7 to 18.
The final results will be announced on 29-7-2025 on the website and fanpage of the British Council in Vietnam.
The awards include 5 special prizes, each worth 50 million VND, and 10 inspirational prizes, each worth 10 million VND.
All winners will be awarded the IELTS Inspirers certificate - a title given by the British Council to those with remarkable learning stories and personal efforts in using IELTS for specific goals.
Sharing about the program's objectives, Ms. Samantha Lea Smith - Director of National Testing (Vietnam) - said: "The IELTS Prize is constantly being adjusted to keep pace with the changing context and to connect more deeply with learners who have chosen IELTS as a milestone on their personal development journey".
The IELTS Prize was launched by the British Council in 2011 and has so far supported more than 400 candidates in East Asia.
The aim of the award is to enable IELTS learners to realise their study or career plans abroad, and to encourage the sharing of learning experiences to create a positive impact in the community.
Many of the winners have gone on to study at international universities. For example, Vu Hai Truong - the winner of the IELTS Prize 2022 with a score of 8.5 - is currently studying for a master's degree in data science at Liverpool John Moores University, UK.
