Field conference on demonstration model of pure rice variety TBR97

Overview of the conference.

TBR97 rice variety is a purebred rice variety selected and created by the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants and copyright transferred to ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company. The variety is recognized for circulation under Decision No. 194/QD-TT-CLT dated August 1, 2022 and Decision No. 424/QD-TT-CLT dated November 21, 2023.

In the 2024 crop season, the Chiem Hoa District Agricultural Service Center coordinated with ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company - Phu Tho Branch and Tan Thinh Commune People's Committee to develop and deploy a demonstration model of TBR 97 rice variety in Na Nghe village field, Tan Thinh Commune, Chiem Hoa District, Tuyen Quang Province to evaluate its resistance to pests and diseases and its adaptability to ecological conditions as a basis for proposing to add it to the district's production structure.

This is a variety with a short growing period: In the Northern provinces: Spring crop 121 - 123 days, Summer crop 101 - 106 days. TBR97 is a temperate rice variety, widely adaptable, tolerant to intensive cultivation. Plant height 90 - 99 cm, compact leaf shape, strong plant, strong tillering, concentrated flowering, bright yellow color, high percentage of firm grains. Weight of 1000 grains 23.4 - 24.8 grams.

Delegates visited and evaluated the pure rice variety TBR97 in the fields of Na Nghe village, Tan Thinh commune, Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province.

Through actual monitoring in the field, it shows that, although under the same cultivation and care conditions, the pure rice variety TBR97 shows good resistance to pests and external conditions, with high uniformity.

TBR97 rice variety has an average yield of 68 - 90 quintals/ha.

Average yield is 68 - 90 quintals/ha, if intensive cultivation can reach 90 - 100 quintals/ha. Superior to the rice varieties currently commonly grown locally and the control rice variety. High milling rate, amylose content 15.1 - 18.6%, long, clear rice grains, white, soft, rich, moderately delicious rice, with a light aroma.

According to the model assessment, TBR97 is a temperate rice variety, widely adaptable, and tolerant to intensive cultivation.

Mr. Hoang Van Hong, Na Nghe village, Tan Thinh commune, Chiem Hoa district, a household participating in the model with an area of ​​3000m2 shared: "TBR97 rice variety is a good choice for us because it has good disease resistance and high yield. Growing this rice variety, we clearly see its outstanding advantages compared to traditional rice varieties. TBR97 rice grows strongly, adapts well to local climate and soil conditions. In particular, it helps us reduce the use of pesticides, thereby saving costs and protecting the health of the whole family and community".

Mr. Hong also emphasized that applying this new rice growing model not only brings economic benefits but also helps improve the farming techniques of local farmers.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam, Na Nghe village, Tan Thinh commune, Chiem Hoa district (a household participating in the model with an area of ​​2,000m2), we also found that this rice variety produces high-quality rice grains, with a more delicious and sticky flavor, meeting the consumption needs of the family and can bring higher profits when sold to the market. Thanks to the application of proper care and management techniques, the yield of TBR97 rice on our area of ​​3,000m2 is effective, contributing to improving the economic life of the family."

At the conference, delegates highly appreciated the outstanding advantages of the pure TBR97 rice variety, especially this rice variety is very strong, resistant to lodging, and adapts to adverse weather conditions. Therefore, farmers hope that this rice variety will soon be put into mass production in the following crops, gradually replacing degraded rice varieties with low productivity, thereby reducing production costs, improving economic efficiency, and creating quality rice products.
