Attending and speaking at the conference, Dr. Nguyen The Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Health emphasized: Nutritional care for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children from 7 to 60 months old is one of the key tasks and top priorities in the strategy for maternal and child health care in Vietnam. The period from pregnancy to 5 years old is the foundation period that determines the physical, intellectual and immune development of children. However, Lai Chau is still facing many challenges such as: lack of energy in pregnant women; the rate of malnutrition in children under 5 years old is still high compared to the national average; lack of micronutrients such as iron, zinc, vitamin A, etc.
In the context of digital transformation, the provincial health sector is promoting the application of information technology in implementing tasks. Nutrition management and consulting software will be an important solution for health facilities to improve the quality of nutritional care for mothers and children in a more comprehensive, accurate and effective way, helping to reduce fetal malnutrition, child malnutrition, especially stunting.
