(sonla.gov.vn) On August 25, 2025, the Department of Education and Training of Son La province held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year, deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year and honor advanced models. Attending and directing the conference were comrade Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches; schools and educational institutions under the Department of Education and Training.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Son La province has 609 kindergartens, general schools, and continuing education schools. Of which: There are 228 kindergartens; 98 primary schools and 144 inter-level primary and secondary schools; 81 secondary schools, 02 secondary and high schools (Nguyen Du, Chieng Son), 02 primary and secondary schools (Binh Minh International and Chu Van An), 12 boarding schools for ethnic minorities, 29 high schools; 12 continuing education centers, 01 provincial center for inclusive education. The total number of students in the province is 376,607, preschool with a total of 84,107 children, including 16,003 nursery children; 68,104 preschool children; Primary school with 139,489 students, secondary school with 109,149 students; high school with 36,231 students; 12 Continuing Education Centers (with 7,631 students), 01 Provincial Inclusive Education Center with 28 students.

The quality of education at all levels has changed positively. The whole province has 437/596 schools meeting national standards (of which 321 schools reached Level 1; 116 schools reached Level 2), equivalent to 73.32% (exceeding the target by 3.22% and increasing by 150 schools compared to December 31, 2020). The results of the 2025 high school graduation exam reached 99.59%. The whole province recorded 158 exams with absolute scores, the highest being in Geography with 112 points, followed by History with 25 points, Economics and Law with 10 points.

The Department of Education and Training has had many solutions to continue training and nurturing students who have won prizes, promoting their qualities and abilities. In the 2024-2025 school year, Son La province had 34 students winning prizes at the National Excellent Student Competition in the subjects of: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, and English. This is the first time Son La province has the largest number of awards, an increase of 14 awards compared to the 2023-2024 school year. Maintaining and consolidating the results of universal education for 5-year-old children (reaching 100%), the whole province has met the standards of eliminating illiteracy, universalizing primary education and universalizing lower secondary education at level 2, being the 12th province out of 63 provinces and cities and the 5th province out of 14 provinces in the northern midlands and mountainous areas to meet the standards of universalizing lower secondary education at level 2, being the 45th province out of 63 provinces and cities to meet the standards of eliminating illiteracy at level 2.

Discussing at the Conference, delegates focused on giving opinions on solutions to improve the quality of education and training in the new school year, such as: Teaching, reviewing, improving the score distribution and high school graduation results; digital transformation in teaching and learning; maintaining and improving the level of universalization and illiteracy eradication; educational quality assessment and building schools that meet national standards; solutions to improve facilities and teaching equipment.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the achievements of the Education and Training sector in the past time. At the same time, he requested the Education and Training sector in the new school year 2025 - 2026 to organize and implement well the following tasks: Research, advise the province and organize the effective and quality implementation of 10 groups of tasks for the school year 2025 - 2026 under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training. Continue to innovate and be creative in teaching and learning to meet the requirements of the new era. Focus, lead and direct the entire Education sector to improve overall quality, improve the quality of teachers and educational managers, organize training, fostering, planning, appointment, .... the right people, the right job; effectively organize and implement the application of information technology, digital transformation in management and teaching. The Department of Education and Training shall preside over and work with departments, branches, sectors, unions, associations, local authorities and educational institutions in the province to fully prepare and ensure the conditions of facilities, teaching equipment, textbooks and learning materials for students, ready for the new school year 2025 - 2026. Educational institutions affected by recent natural disasters, flash floods, landslides, together with the People, Party committees and authorities, shall overcome and ensure the conditions for the opening of the new school year 2025 - 2026. Implement the national general opening program according to the unified direction of the Ministry of Education and Training.
