The province focuses on developing strategic economic pillars, creating a solid foundation for rapid and sustainable growth.
Increase value from strengths
With a natural area of over 21,500 km², ranking second in the country, of which over 15,500 km² is fertile red basalt soil, Gia Lai has outstanding advantages for developing agriculture associated with the processing industry. The province is building large-scale concentrated raw material areas for key crops: coffee, pepper, avocado, durian, passion fruit, medicinal plants... to meet export needs.

In the East, the processing and logistics industry is strongly developed, conveniently connected to seaports, railways, and airports. In the West, forest resources and fertile basalt soil become "poles of attraction" for high-tech agriculture.
The province has attracted 53 crop projects, of which 29 have been approved for investment. Thousands of hectares of land are planned for concentrated raw material areas, creating the premise for a sustainable value chain.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Hang - General Director of Vinanutrifood Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company - commented: Gia Lai agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, durian, passion fruit, precious medicinal herbs... have affirmed their brand. The project of the concentrated agricultural and forestry product processing factory started on the morning of August 19 in Tay Son commune (very large production scale with 10,000 tons of animal feed, 21,000 tons of canned and instant fruits, 2,000 tons of functional foods, 5,000 m³ of cosmetics per year) will create a big push, a highlight in the strategy of developing deep processing industry, contributing to the formation of an agricultural product processing-logistics center in the Central Highlands region.
Besides agriculture, Gia Lai has great potential for industrial and renewable energy development. There are currently 87 operating power plants with a total capacity of over 4,300 MW. In addition to hydropower, wind power, and solar power, the province is oriented towards developing new industries associated with logistics and cross-border e-commerce.
Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Duong Minh Duc said that the province's orientation is to reorganize industrial zones/clusters according to specialized industries, develop ecological industrial zones, and innovative ecosystems. The focus is on deep processing industries, key industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and clean energy.
Exploiting the advantages along National Highway 19 (Quy Nhon-An Khe-Pleiku) and the coast will create an inter-regional industrial-service corridor, making Gia Lai an attractive destination for strategic investors.
Connecting for key economic sectors
If agriculture and industry are the “engines” of economic growth, then culture and tourism are the “soul” that creates lasting vitality. With the advantage of “golden forests and silver seas”, Gia Lai has the potential to develop eco-tourism, resorts, community and smart tourism.
Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Do Thi Dieu Hanh said that Gia Lai possesses a unique tourism ecosystem, from the Central Highlands gong culture, mountain landscapes to sea and island space... This is the foundation for forming international-class destinations.

The room for development is not only in resources but also in the unique connectivity: Cultural-historical tourism, agriculture, adventure sports, or inter-regional journeys connecting Quy Nhon beach with Gia Lai plateau.
Mr. Hoang Phuong, Director of Le Pleiku Tourism Media Company Limited, said that the difference between the East and West of the province creates its own appeal. “We can design diverse tourism routes, from sea experiences to forest trekking, from indigenous culture to highland cuisine. This is a unique value that few places have,” Mr. Phuong said.
From a tourist’s perspective, Ms. Anna Marie (French) after a trekking trip in Kon Ka Kinh National Park expressed: “I have been to many places in Asia but nowhere has such pristine nature and unique culture as Gia Lai. I will definitely come back with my friends.”
▪ Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tri - Chairman of the National Committee for the Man and Biosphere Program of Vietnam (UNESCO):
Kon Ha Nung Plateau World Biosphere Reserve is home to the richest flora and fauna in Vietnam. The intact ecosystem is home to many rare species such as the grey-shanked douc langur, the Central Vietnamese red-cheeked gibbon, and the large-antlered muntjac. This is an invaluable asset, opening up the potential for ecotourism development, scientific research, and environmental education.
Kon Ha Nung has unique ecological value, which is the foundation for Gia Lai to develop sustainable ecotourism models.
▪ Mr. Chu Hau Nham - Chief Engineer of Big Data Development Department, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China):
Not only exploiting internal resources, Gia Lai actively expands international cooperation. The province's main agricultural products have been exported to 60 countries, including large markets such as China, Japan, and Europe.
Gia Lai has great potential for cooperation in high-tech agriculture. The application of artificial intelligence and big data will increase productivity and expand agricultural trade. This is a signal affirming the increasingly expanding space for international cooperation, helping Gia Lai gradually participate deeply in the global value chain.
