As a mountainous commune in an ethnic minority area, Quang Tan currently has 21 prestigious people, distributed in 21 villages, including the elderly, party cell secretaries, village and hamlet chiefs, retired cadres, good producers, businessmen, shamans... In recent years, with their prestige and voice, this team has actively contributed to the work of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, fighting against child marriage and incestuous marriage; mobilizing people to compete in labor production, building new rural areas; preserving and promoting good traditional cultural values; building great solidarity among ethnic groups.
Mr. Trieu Van Sang (born in 1981, Dao ethnic group) in Thin Thu village, said: “From 2007 to 2015, I was elected by party members and villagers as party cell secretary, village chief and a prestigious person. During that period, the whole village had 30/140 poor households, accounting for 21.4%. The main reason was lack of jobs and capital, in addition, a part of the people still relied on and waited for support from the State.”
After many sleepless nights, looking for solutions to help people escape poverty sustainably, he boldly proposed to the local Party Committee and government to create conditions for people to access preferential loans from the Bank for Social Policies to create more jobs and increase income. He also actively propagated and mobilized people to effectively exploit land resources, increase intensive farming, change the structure of crops and livestock; promote production and consumption linkages; mobilized people to open more carpentry jobs, produce dry rice noodles, invest in food services, passenger transport, transport of goods and forest products; mobilized people of working age to work in industrial parks, the coal industry, etc. Up to now, the whole village has 37 households with loans that are promoting efficiency, with a total outstanding debt of 3.7 billion VND. The village has 45 trucks and taxis, the most in the commune.
Implementing the program of building new rural areas, he mobilized people to donate over 3,000 square meters of land to expand the commune, inner-village, and hamlet roads and irrigation canals. With many contributions to the community, Mr. Sang was awarded many certificates of merit by the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements, contributing to building the great national unity bloc and developing the socio -economy of ethnic minority areas.

Thanks to his deep understanding of the customs and practices of the people, Mr. Chieu Quay San (born in 1957, Dao ethnic group), a prestigious person in Yen Son village, has actively mobilized people to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in the village; educated families and clans to preserve good customs and traditions, and eliminate backward customs and practices. In addition, he also actively participates in reconciling conflicts and disputes, creating consensus, cohesion and solidarity among the people.
At his rare age, he still actively participates in developing the forest economy for people to learn and follow. Currently, his family has 22 hectares of acacia forest, earning an average profit of 350 million VND per year. Mr. San is excited: In the past, people criticized the poor land, feared that planting forests would not be effective, so they left a lot of land fallow. From his example, now every household in the village plants from 2 to 5 hectares of forest. Income from planting forests has helped households to raise their children to study well and build spacious, solid houses.
Mr. Pham Van Khai, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tan commune, shared: In recent years, the commune has mobilized and implemented the construction of 15 bright, green, clean and beautiful roads; supported the development of 4 OCOP products and typical agricultural products; established 4 groups to classify and turn waste into money; 21 folk dance and sports clubs; completed the installation of solar energy light lines with a total length of more than 11.7km to light up the countryside roads with a total cost of 1.1 billion VND; organized 31 works and tasks to celebrate the great unity festival in the villages... To achieve that result, there is a positive contribution from the team of prestigious people in the villages.
