According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, compared to last week, the number of fishing vessels continued to decrease by 218 vessels, to 80,884 vessels. The number of licensed fishing vessels increased by 1,632 vessels (up 19.3%), currently there are 6,828 unlicensed vessels.
During the week, 254 vessels were deregistered, of which the localities with the most deregistered vessels were Hue City with 45 vessels, Ho Chi Minh City with 60 vessels, and Dak Lak Province with 47 vessels. The number of fishing vessels that were not qualified to operate decreased by 1,888 vessels, currently remaining at 7,130 unqualified vessels. During the week, 14,812/11,540 vessels were cleared for fishing vessels to enter and exit ports. Up to now, 27,990 fishing vessels have installed VMS, reaching 99.16%; currently, there are 235 fishing vessels that have not installed VMS...
For Ninh Binh province, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has focused on directing sectors and localities to review and update fishing vessel data on the national database of the fisheries sector.
As of October 12, 2025, the province has 20 fishing vessels at high risk of violating IUU fishing. These vessels are all on shore, not operating, and are closely monitored and managed by commune officials (a decrease of 1 vessel compared to the previous month); 100% of registered fishing vessels in Ninh Binh province have been registered and marked according to regulations.
The Border Guard Command (Provincial Military Command) is implementing peak patrols, inspections, and controls at sea, river mouths, fishing ports, and fishing wharves in the province. At the same time, there is a plan to strictly handle fishing vessels that violate IUU fishing regulations, especially fishing vessels that unload products at unregulated seafood unloading points.
