National online conference to review traffic safety work in the second quarter and first 6 months of 2025

On the afternoon of August 13, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Tran Hong Ha chaired a national online conference to review the work of ensuring traffic safety and order in the second quarter and the first 6 months of 2025; directions and tasks for the third quarter and the last months of 2025. At the Ca Mau provincial bridge, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Huu Tri and members of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee attended the conference.

In the first 6 months of 2025, there were 9,398 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 5,293 people and injuring 6,246 people; of which, there were 14 particularly serious accidents, killing 48 people and injuring 33 people. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 3,009 fewer accidents, 201 fewer deaths, and 3,203 fewer injuries.

The Ministry of Public Security has directed local police to patrol, inspect, control, detect and handle 1.67 million cases of violations of road, railway and inland waterway traffic safety and order; impose fines of over VND 3,500 billion; revoke nearly 140,000 driving licenses, certificates and professional qualifications; and detain 424,000 vehicles of all kinds. Compared to the same period in 2024, nearly 500,000 cases were handled less, and fines decreased by VND 515 billion.

At the conference, delegates focused on reviewing and evaluating the results of the implementation of the task of ensuring traffic order and safety in the past time; analyzing subjective and objective issues and causes, thereby proposing specific directions, tasks and solutions for implementation in the coming time, contributing to minimizing the risk of insecurity for people and vehicles participating in traffic.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Tran Hong Ha requested relevant ministries, branches and localities to urgently advise on perfecting the organization and operation of the National Traffic Safety Committee and local traffic safety boards; develop, promulgate and apply regulations and standards for vehicles operating on rivers and at sea; manage road safety corridors and intersections, especially intersections between railways and roads; have mechanisms, policies and solutions to support the conversion of means of transport from gasoline vehicles and personal vehicles to public transport, bicycles, electric vehicles, etc.; strengthen the management of traffic participation for students.

In addition, localities assigned to manage national highways focus on warning, monitoring, and ensuring traffic safety on the routes; the Ministry of Public Security reviews and issues regulations to strengthen the management of means of transport, guides the inspection and handling of the situation of vehicles operating in the transport business but not registered for business, not having parking lots. In addition, central and local media agencies continue to promote propaganda to raise people's awareness when participating in traffic. Thereby, contributing to achieving the goal of controlling and reducing traffic accidents on all three criteria in the coming time.
