Conference on Export Promotion to China Market

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh delivered the opening speech at the conference.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Comrade Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: The conference is an opportunity for domestic and foreign enterprises and investors to access information, seek business cooperation opportunities with the Chinese market - one of the largest and most potential trade partners of Vietnam, and at the same time is a forum for exchange, remove difficulties, promote bilateral trade flows, contribute to increasing export turnover and enhancing the value of goods of the province.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee informed the conference: Gia Lai is the province with the second largest natural area in the country, with potential for comprehensive development, converging many strategic advantages, strongly developing the agricultural and forestry processing industry and renewable energy, diverse land and climate resources, favorable for the development of agricultural production. With a large and relatively concentrated land fund, there are many conditions to develop specialized, large-scale production areas, creating advantages in attracting businesses to invest in raw material areas, building a sustainable production - processing - consumption chain of agricultural products. In particular, the province has about 753 thousand hectares of red-yellow land, suitable for the development of key crops such as coffee, pepper, rubber, fruit trees and some high-value medicinal plants.

In addition, Gia Lai owns Quy Nhon seaport - one of the important export gateways of the Central region and Le Thanh international border gate, directly trading with Cambodia, expanding trade opportunities to ASEAN and international markets. The province's transport infrastructure is invested synchronously with two airports (Phu Cat, Pleiku), the North-South expressway, inter-regional expressways, and a modern network of national and provincial highways. There are many concentrated industrial zones and clusters and coastal urban, commercial and service areas, meeting the needs of production, logistics and trade. Regarding energy, in addition to hydropower and solar power projects, Gia Lai focuses on developing onshore wind power, nearshore wind power and offshore wind power, making the most of natural advantages to produce clean and sustainable energy, serving domestic needs and export.

Vietnam and China officially established a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in May 2008. This is a solid foundation for the development of economic relations between the two countries, promoting the strong growth of import-export turnover between the two countries, and the structure of export goods has changed in a positive direction. Therefore, Gia Lai respectfully welcomes the Chinese business delegation to visit and learn about the abundant source of agricultural raw materials, the processing industry system, as well as opportunities for long-term and sustainable trade cooperation. This is a favorable time for both sides to exploit potential, strengthen connections and promote cooperation projects that bring practical benefits to both sides.

Popular products in the Chinese market mainly include: wood, cassava, fresh fruits such as bananas, passion fruit, durian; deeply processed products such as dried fruits, fruit juices; and key agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, rubber latex... All are officially exported, fully meeting the requirements of technical standards, product quality, food hygiene and safety, with certified growing area codes and packaging facilities.

After the process of learning and exchanging information, a number of Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises have made preliminary agreements, moving towards signing Memorandums of Understanding between the parties. At the conference, enterprises of the two countries signed 07 Memorandums of Understanding, opening up opportunities to realize the goal of bringing agricultural products and processed products of Gia Lai province to deeply penetrate the Chinese market.

Accordingly, Lusemei Dong Hung Co., Ltd., Guangxi, China signed a cooperation agreement with Thagrico Cao Nguyen Fruit Tree Company Limited (purchasing durian products); Nafoods Tay Nguyen Joint Stock Company (purchasing passion fruit products); Tin Thanh Dat Joint Stock Company (purchasing coffee products); Gia Lai Livestock Joint Stock Company (purchasing banana products). Vplus Group signed a cooperation agreement with Huong Duong Gia Lai Co., Ltd. (purchasing durian products); Hung Thom Gia Lai Agricultural and Service Cooperative (purchasing passion fruit products). Guangxi Willow Pharmaceutical Group Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement with Vinanutrifood Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company (purchasing processed and semi-processed agricultural products of Gia Lai province).
