Giving up her stable civil servant job in Hanoi , in 2008, Ms. Pham Thi Nguyet Dung and her husband moved to Ha An (Quang Yen town), determined to start a business with a model of raising egg-laying chickens. After nearly 20 years of perseverance, up to now, the Tan An chicken egg production and trading farm owned by her has become one of the large-scale breeding establishments, with a revenue of about 60 billion VND/year.
The farm currently raises 60,000-70,000 chickens stably in a closed process, applying cold-house technology, disease management systems and strict environmental treatment. On average, the farm supplies about 50,000 eggs per day, distributed to school kitchens, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets in Quang Ninh and some neighboring provinces. Tan An chicken egg products were certified as 4-star OCOP in 2019, and have been honored by the provincial Farmers' Association for many consecutive years as typical agricultural products.
Not only is a good businesswoman, In addition to being a good farmer and businesswoman, Ms. Dung also shows her deep social responsibility to the locality. Every year, she helps many people in difficult circumstances, nearly 20 member households, with capital and livestock farming techniques. Her farm creates jobs for about 10 local workers with a stable income.
Many good farming households in the province are at the forefront of social security activities. A typical example is Mr. Bui Van Tuan's household (Dien Xa commune) who guides and disseminates production experience to about 30 people each year, supporting 5 households with economic difficulties. Mr. Pham Van Do's household (Hai Ninh commune) creates regular jobs for 15 local workers; disseminates knowledge and vocational training to 25 members; helps 25 other workers find jobs; helps 3 disadvantaged households escape poverty, with a budget of 3-5 million VND/household/year.
To spread community movements among members and farmers, every year, Farmers' Associations at all levels organize, propagate, and mobilize cadres and members to actively participate in social security activities. In the first 6 months of 2025, the Provincial Farmers' Association awarded 50 million VND to support house repairs for disadvantaged members in Ba Che commune; visited and presented 212 Tet gifts (total value of 181 million VND) to members' households in difficult circumstances and affected by natural disasters. Farmers' Associations at all levels awarded 2,590 gifts (total value of nearly 1.8 billion VND) to poor farmers, near-poor households, households in difficult circumstances, and households affected by natural disasters.
Ms. Le Phuong Thao, Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association, said: In the coming time, the Provincial Farmers' Association at all levels will continue to mobilize farmers to compete in production and business, transform the structure of crops and livestock with high economic value; apply science and technology, develop OCOP products according to the value chain; coordinate with all levels and sectors to effectively implement social security policies. In particular, pay special attention to poverty reduction, support poor households to repair and build new houses, give Tet gifts; provide vocational training, create jobs; mobilize farmers to participate in voluntary health insurance and social insurance; do well in service activities, provide advice to support farmers to access preferential capital sources to develop production and improve their lives.
