Scientific workshop to evaluate and replicate the results of the topic: Research on exploitation and development of fruit peach genetic resources

On July 16, 2025, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry organized a scientific workshop to evaluate and replicate the results of the project "Research on exploitation and development of genetic resources of Tien Pac A fruit peach and Dia Linh early peach in Bac Kan and neighboring areas" under the national project, chaired by Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry in the period 2021 - 2025.

Overview of the Workshop

Attending the workshop were Mr. Nong Thanh Than - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Cao Bang; Mr. Hoang Thanh Binh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Cong Commune; Head of Phja Den Hamlet and representatives of farmers in Phja Den Hamlet, Thanh Cong Commune, Cao Bang Province.

Based on favorable natural conditions in Bac Kan province and neighboring areas such as Cao Bang province, the project was implemented to complete the set objectives: Building a database on agrobiological characteristics, value and development potential of two genetic sources of Tien Pac A peach and Dia Linh early peach; Selecting and certifying 10 parent trees for each genetic source; Building a seed garden, propagated from selected parent trees, with an area of ​​2,000 m2, preserving 300 parent trees; Building a seed nursery with an area of ​​500 m2, producing 3,000 standard seedlings (in Pu Vai hamlet, Thanh Cong commune, Cao Bang province); Researching and developing seedling production processes and cultivation processes for each genetic source; Building 02 new planting models, with a scale of 03 hectares/genetic source, a minimum survival rate of 90%, and good tree growth and development; Built 02 intensive farming models of available crop gardens, scale 01 ha/gene source, economic efficiency 15% higher than mass production.

At the Workshop, representatives of management agencies, professional agencies, local authorities and households attending the Workshop exchanged, discussed and contributed ideas and highly appreciated the results achieved by the project, especially the production of high-quality seedlings by grafting and applying science and technology in production. The results of the project, if replicated locally, will not only contribute to the development of local fruit trees but also open up new directions in creating landscapes and developing tourism, creating advantages in developing production as well as consuming some other local products, so it is necessary to continue to develop and replicate the model. The success of the project will contribute to enhancing the economic , cultural and tourism value in the locality in the future./.
