Photographer Tran Thi Thu Dong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations , President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists chaired the workshop.
Attending and sharing opinions at the workshop were Associate Professor, Doctor, writer Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art; representatives of leaders of relevant agencies, departments and photographers across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, photographer Ho Sy Minh, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, Editor-in-Chief of Photography and Life Magazine, affirmed that after the country's reunification, generations who love, are passionate about and responsible for photography have united, joined forces, with the duty of citizenship, the consciousness of striving for "artists as soldiers" have been present and recorded authentic images, reflecting important milestones in the history of Vietnam's development in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Many images of the beauty of Vietnam's land and people, economic , cultural, social, security and defense development have been introduced to the world's people and preserved as historical documents.
The past half century has also been an important period in which the Vietnamese photographers have developed in both quantity and quality. From 71 members attending the first Congress of Photographic Artists in 1965, the Photographic Artists Association now has 1,075 members working creatively in all provinces and branches nationwide, making positive and effective contributions to the development of national culture.

According to the Organizing Committee, the conference received 27 papers from 26 authors including photographers, scientists, managers... and one author who is a lecturer at Hanoi National University majoring in visual arts.
The opinions focused on summarizing and comprehensively and deeply evaluating the outstanding achievements of Vietnamese photography over the past half century; recognizing the shortcomings and limitations and proposing solutions for Vietnamese photography to continue to develop and achieve the goals set out in the strategy for developing cultural industries.

Many opinions proposed useful solutions to build and develop Vietnamese photography in the coming time such as: building specific mechanisms and policies on photography, training human resources, especially young talents; building photography and cinema industries; combining photography with other economic sectors such as tourism; theoretical criticism work, focusing on investing in digital technology infrastructure to promote and trade artistic photographic works...
Speaking at the workshop, President of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists Tran Thi Thu Dong emphasized that over the past 50 years, the position of Vietnamese photography has been gradually enhanced. The achievements of photography have contributed to enriching literary and artistic activities, demonstrating the heroic historical evidence of the nation. Photography also has a strong value in communicating reality, creating trust for the public in all eras.
