On the evening of May 21, the ceremony to celebrate the 995th anniversary of the Dong Co Temple Loyalty Oath and the ceremony to announce the decision to register the Dong Co Temple Loyalty Oath as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage took place in Hanoi .

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong presented the decision to register the Dong Co Temple Loyalty Oath as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Dong Co is a sacred temple built by King Ly Thai Tong 995 years ago in Hanoi. The temple worships the Bronze Drum God and is associated with the Loyalty Oath with the profound goal ofeducating and teaching the mandarins, soldiers and people about the role and meaning of loyalty in the world towards the invincible strength of the nation, which is the spirit of solidarity, love and attachment to each other. This ritual continued to be maintained during the Tran and Le dynasties, and to this day, continues to be imitated by local people on the festival day of the temple.

Inside Dong Co Temple, there are still 12 royal decrees from 1740 to 1883, bearing the reign names: Canh Hung, Chieu Thong, Quang Trung, Canh Thinh, Thieu Tri, Tu Duc. On January 31, 1992, the temple was recognized as a National Historical Relic.

Nowadays, the temple continues to maintain the traditional oath. Every year on the 4th day of the 4th lunar month, Nam village, Buoi ward holds a festival. Not only the people and representatives of the local government but also many visitors from all over the country come here to participate in the festival.

The Dong Co Temple Oath has special value in the Vietnamese cultural heritage system, clearly demonstrating the patriotism, loyalty and filial piety of the Vietnamese people.

After the solemn ceremony, the festival is a special art program with an epic dance drama about the legend of Dong Co temple and King Ly Thai Tong opening the Loyalty Oath after the Tam Vuong Rebellion.

The program has the participation of artists: People's Artist Thuy Ngan, Meritorious Artist Thuy Linh, Meritorious Artist Luong Huy, Dong Do drum group, Vietnam Tuong Theater. The program's general choreographer is Hai Truong Ali Duong Pham.

The combination of music , dance, lighting effects, epic drama and traditional cultural heritage performances such as Xam singing, Cheo singing, Dien Ca, drum dancing, dragon procession... creates a detailed legend about Dong Co temple, Dong Co god, wise king Ly Thai To and the capital land, West Lake with a thousand years of culture.
