On the occasion of Buddha's birthday this year, many restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City said they will give away dozens, even hundreds of vegetarian meals to those with good karma.
Do meaningful things on Buddha's birthday
On Buddha's birthday 2025, in front of a noodle shop located at 1233 Pham The Hien Street (Ward 5, District 8), there is a cute notice: "Free vegetarian food on the occasion of Buddha's birthday. Vegetarian dishes are personally cooked by the restaurant's qualified chef. Flavor, quality guaranteed to be delicious and hygienic. We invite you, our customers, to come and receive them."

Sharing with Thanh Nien recently, the restaurant said that the restaurant had just opened not long ago. Tomorrow, May 11 (the 14th day of the lunar calendar), the restaurant plans to distribute 150 portions of vegetarian noodles. Accordingly, the restaurant will start distributing from 6:30 am until they run out.
"We plan to not only distribute on this Buddha's birthday but will try to maintain it in the future on the 15th and 1st of every month. The restaurant owner hopes to bring warm meals to those in need," the restaurant manager added.
The restaurant also said that it is not aimed at any particular audience. Anyone who wants to receive vegetarian noodles can come and get them. The funding for this activity is taken from a portion of the restaurant's profits from selling noodles.

Not far away, located at 269 Bong Sao Street (Ward 5, District 8), the snail restaurant of Ms. Ngoc Thao (33 years old) and her husband, Mr. Huu Loi (33 years old) also said that they plan to give away 70-100 free vegetarian stir-fried vermicelli dishes.
The expected distribution time is next Monday, May 12 (the 15th day of the lunar calendar). The restaurant owners will distribute from 10am until sold out. "My husband and I often distribute charity rice. We opened the restaurant 3 weeks ago and this is the first time my husband and I have given away vegetarian food at the restaurant, on Buddha's birthday. However, we will not stop on that day but will try to maintain it as long as possible," Ms. Thao shared.

She said that the vegetarian stir-fried noodles are a part of the couple's heart that they want to share with everyone. They kindly invite everyone to come and receive them. For Thao and Loi, giving is also receiving joy and happiness.
Free vegetarian rice every month, free iced tea every day
That is the broken rice restaurant of Mr. Sang Le’s family (38 years old), located at 70 Hung Phu (District 8). The owner said that every full moon and the first day of each month, he will give vegetarian dishes to everyone. Meanwhile, the restaurant has a free iced tea bucket every day for everyone in need.
This happened not long ago, after his broken rice restaurant opened for 3 months. He said that on the occasion of Buddha's birthday this year, he plans to give out more than 30 vegetarian meals and serve free drinks to those who are fortunate enough to visit the restaurant.
"I do as much as I can, from the profits from selling rice every day, not from donations or appeals. The other day I distributed rice, and it was gone in less than 30 minutes. As for the free water, many students and shippers stopped by to drink, especially a few days ago when Ho Chi Minh City was extremely hot," he shared.

Free vegetarian dishes and iced tea have been served by the restaurant recently.
The vegetarian meals for Buddha's birthday will be distributed by his restaurant at 8:30 a.m. on May 12, the 15th day of the lunar month. He said that the smiles and thanks of those who come to receive the meals are gifts and motivation for him to continue this work.
Mr. Huy (56 years old), living in District 8, said that although he did not accept free vegetarian meals, he also welcomed the work of the restaurant owners. According to him, giving vegetarian meals to everyone helps those in need have a full meal, and also spreads love in Ho Chi Minh City - the city of love.
