Over 18,000 students in Hue took the entrance exam for 10th grade in high school.

(NLĐO) - On the morning of May 27th, more than 18,000 candidates in Hue City officially began the entrance exam for 10th grade high school in the 2026-2027 school year with the first subject being Literature.

According to the Hue City Department of Education and Training, 18,002 students across the city registered to take the exam, an increase of more than 5,000 compared to last year. To facilitate the exam, the education sector arranged 48 examination centers with 765 examination rooms.

There are over 18,000 ninth-grade students taking the entrance exam for tenth grade in the 2026-2027 school year.

On the first day of the exam, candidates took the Literature exam in the morning, followed by Mathematics and Foreign Language in the afternoon. On May 28th, candidates applying to Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue will continue to take the specialized subject exams.

Candidates arrived at the examination center at Thuan An High School, Thuan An ward, to take the Literature exam in the morning, with a time limit of 120 minutes.

The Vietnamese language and mathematics exams are essay-based; the foreign language exam is multiple-choice. Scores are calculated on a 10-point scale, with increments of 0.25 points.

Police forces ensured traffic safety at the examination site.

This year, candidates can register for a maximum of three preferences for admission to high schools. The selection process is conducted simultaneously and equally among all preferences, with the preferences being considered in the order of registration to determine the admission results.

Traffic police of Hue City Police Department are directing traffic at the exam site at Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted.

Observations at many examination sites on the morning of May 27th showed that volunteers, police, medical personnel, and electricity workers were present from early on to support candidates and parents, as well as to ensure security and safety for the exam.

Despite the high number of applicants, the Hue City education department stated that it will still ensure sufficient school places for students after the enrollment process.

It is expected that 40 high schools in the area will enroll 17,579 students. In addition, the system of vocational education and continuing education centers is also being reviewed to meet the learning needs of students after the exam.
