(NLDO) – More than 300 people have made efforts to search and rescue the 10 missing fishermen from Quang Binh . It is believed that they may have drifted to foreign waters due to the impact of currents and winds.

On May 9, Colonel Trinh Thanh Binh - Commander of the Quang Binh Border Guard Command - said that the unit is still maintaining communication and coordinating with other forces to continue searching for the remaining 10 fishermen in the sinking of a fishing boat in the Gulf of Tonkin.
According to the assessment, although the 4 fishing boats were in distress in Vietnamese waters, it is possible that due to the impact of water currents and wind, the fishermen may have drifted further towards the waters of the neighboring country.
Faced with this situation, the Quang Binh Border Guard Command reported to the staff and proposed to the superiors to coordinate the search from the neighboring country.
Currently, there are 3 ships of Quang Binh border guards and many fishing boats with more than 300 people supporting and participating in the search, but there is still no trace of the 10 missing Quang Binh fishermen. The search for other fishermen in distress is difficult because of unfavorable weather conditions at sea.
The Forward Search and Rescue Command at the Quang Binh Border Guard Command has proposed many plans to search for the missing crew members.
The Quang Binh Province Fisheries Department has also contacted the Fisheries Surveillance Force, keeping in touch with more than 1,000 fishing vessels at sea to "create a channel" for a large search via radio waves, increasing the chance of discovering the 10 missing fishermen. This is the largest search for missing fishermen ever in Quang Binh.
"We are still continuing the search. The important thing now is to coordinate with other forces and friendly countries to jointly carry out search and rescue activities for fishermen drifting further away. The province requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notify the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to request coordination in searching for the missing fishermen," said Colonel Trinh Thanh Binh.
Meanwhile, the fishermen's families and relatives are living in anxiety and tension, hoping that they will receive positive news as soon as possible.
Authorities have also notified the community about the incident and called on people to provide information if they discover any signs of the location of the missing fishermen.
As the Lao Dong Newspaper continuously reported, from May 2 to 3, 4 local fishing boats were in distress in the Gulf of Tonkin. Among them, 1 boat belonged to Duc Trach Commune (Bo Trach District), 2 boats belonged to Quang Phuc Ward (Ba Don Town) and 1 boat belonged to Quang Phu Commune (Quang Trach District). Of these, 3 boats sank and 1 boat lost contact.
There were 24 fishermen on board these 4 fishing boats. Up to now, the authorities have coordinated with local authorities and fishing boats at sea to search and rescue 14 people to bring them ashore (1 fisherman died), 10 fishermen are missing.
The initial cause reported by people was a tornado.Source: https://nld.com.vn/hon-300-nguoi-ra-bien-tim-kiem-10-ngu-dan-quang-binh-mat-tich-tren-vinh-bac-bo-196240509182732967.htm
