More than 350 players compete in chess tournament in Dong Thap province

DTO - From February 1 to 3, at the Multi-purpose Gymnasium - Provincial High School for Gifted, Sports Training and Competition, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the 2025 Mekong Delta Open Rapid and Blitz Chess Tournament for Age Groups.

The players compete enthusiastically.

The tournament gathered more than 350 players from 14 units in the provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region and Ho Chi Minh City to compete in 2 categories: rapid chess and blitz chess according to the Swiss system of 7 games. Over 2 days, the players competed enthusiastically and passionately in the age groups of 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and the team. At the end of the tournament, Ho Chi Minh City excellently led the whole delegation with 28 gold medals, 12 silver medals - 21 bronze medals; Dong Thap players won 11 gold medals, 18 silver medals, 21 bronze medals, ranking second; Ba Ria - Vung Tau ranked third with 6 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 11 bronze medals.

Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Head of the Organizing Committee awarded medals to excellent players.

The tournament is maintained by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and held annually during Tet to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere to celebrate the Party and the New Year. At the same time, it creates conditions for the province's chess players to compete and learn from the experience of athletes inside and outside the Mekong Delta region, contributing to promoting the development of the Red Lotus Land chess movement.
