Vinh Loc Street, over 7 km long, through Binh Chanh District and Binh Tan District, will be expanded to 30 m, at a cost of VND4,344 billion, helping to reduce congestion at the western gateway of the city.
The project to upgrade and expand Vinh Loc Street has just been proposed by the Department of Transport to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and submission to the City People's Council for adjustment of investment policy at the upcoming meeting.
The project adjustment is due to the change in the scale of the expansion investment to create a synchronous traffic connection between Binh Chanh district, Binh Tan district and Hoc Mon district at the southwestern gateway of the city. The project is invested by the Binh Chanh District Investment and Construction Project Management Board, and when approved, will be implemented from now until 2027.

Accordingly, Vinh Loc Street is about 7-8 m wide, with two lanes, and will be expanded to 30 m on a 7.2 km long section, from the intersection with Tran Van Giau Street (Provincial Road 10 - Binh Chanh District) to the intersection with Road 2A in Vinh Loc Industrial Park, Binh Tan District. From here, traffic will be synchronously connected through Hoc Mon District.
Along with road expansion, the Vinh Loc - Tran Van Giau intersection will be upgraded within the project to arrange turns for convenient vehicle access. At the same time, the 5-way intersection between Vinh Loc - Quach Dieu - Vo Van Van - Nguyen Thi Tu streets will also be built synchronously. In addition, the project will build a new Ba Tri bridge with a width of about 30 m and a length of more than 31 m.

Previously, the project to widen Vinh Loc Street was studied to increase it to 18 meters, but this plan was assessed as not being synchronous with traffic in the area. According to the People's Committee of Binh Chanh District, this road being expanded to 30 meters according to the plan will increase connectivity between districts, reduce congestion and accidents in the area. The existing narrow Vinh Loc Street has been a bottleneck in local infrastructure for many years.
In addition to the above project, at the upcoming session of the City People's Council, a series of other projects are expected to be submitted for investment approval, including: Nguyen Khoi bridge and road (total capital of more than 3,700 billion VND); Ring Road 2, section from Vo Nguyen Giap to Pham Van Dong (total capital of more than 4,500 billion VND); upgrading and expanding Nguyen Thi Dinh road, section from Giong Ong To bridge to My Thuy roundabout (nearly 2,100 billion VND)...
