Meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 100-year Wax Coconut Festival and Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week in Cau Ke District 2024

On March 27, 2024, at the Cau Ke District People's Committee Hall, the Organizing Committee of the 100-year Tra Vinh Wax Coconut Festival and the Vu Lan Thang Hoi Week of Cau Ke District, Tra Vinh Province in 2024 held a meeting to unify the contents to organize the event well. Attending the meeting were Mr. Tran Phong Ba, Chairman of Cau Ke district People's Committee - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Mr. Duong Hoang Sum, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee; Leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; relevant departments and specialized units under the Cau Ke district People's Committee; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Industry and Trade; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Cau Ke town People's Committee and the event organizer.

At the meeting, delegates were presented with the plan to organize the 100-year Tra Vinh wax coconut festival and Vu Lan Thang Hoi week in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province in 2024. According to the plan, this year the event will be organized with many rich activities such as: Deeply dramatizing the opening ceremony of the 100-year Tra Vinh wax coconut festival (broadcast live on Tra Vinh TV); Workshop on wax coconut with the participation of neighboring provinces such as Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tien Giang; Seminar on "Cau Ke Tourism - Potential along Hau River"; Booth displaying delicious fruit specialties of Cau Ke district; Contest to process 100 delicious dishes from wax coconut (setting a Vietnamese record for the locality with the most dishes made from wax coconut); Opening ceremony of Vu Lan Thang Hoi week (broadcast live on Tra Vinh TV); Trade Fair with 200 booths of domestic and foreign enterprises; Local culinary space with 30 participating units; Lion Dance Festival with the participation of more than 15 Lion Dance clubs inside and outside the province; Display of images of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Vu Lan Festival of Cau Ke district; Sports activities and folk games, etc.

Based on the comments and consensus of the delegates, the 100-year Tra Vinh wax coconut tree festival and Vu Lan Thang festival week in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province in 2024 will be held for 7 days, from August 25-31, 2024 and will be upgraded from the district level to the provincial level, especially for the first time the province will organize a festival on the occasion of the 100-year presence of wax coconut trees in Tra Vinh, including 12 activities. Cau Ke district People's Committee; Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Industry and Trade; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development are responsible for implementing the assigned contents in the plan; the units coordinate to advise on the successful organization of this event to promote to tourists the image of Cau Ke homeland in particular, Tra Vinh province in general; introduce the potentials of the district, especially delicious fruits; enhance cultural and trade exchanges, link to develop diverse tourism products; Carry out well the work of promoting and calling for investment in the fields of trade, agriculture and tourism./.
