( Bqp.vn ) – On the morning of November 15, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Information and Communications jointly held a press conference to introduce activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

Regarding the activities carried out to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department, said that many activities have been and are being carried out comprehensively in many fields, including: Propaganda, education, emulation, rewards; culture, literature, art, sports; exhibitions, fairs; seminars, talks, meetings, exchanges and policy activities, mass mobilization, gratitude. Notable activities include: The contest to learn about the tradition of "80 years of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and 35 years of the National Defense Day"; the peak emulation period "Proud of tradition - Continuing the feat - worthy of the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers"; the political and artistic program "The historical path" at the Vietnam Military History Museum; 1,832 projects were deployed to celebrate the anniversary (worth more than 262.6 billion VND), 1,424 projects have been completed, and 408 projects are in progress; Exhibition of 80 years of culture, literature and art of the Vietnam People's Army at Hoan Kiem Lake walking street; National scientific conference to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, 35 years of National Defense Day; Military music exchange of ASEAN countries...
Agencies, units, and localities coordinated to provide financial support for the renovation and embellishment of places of worship (at home) for 32/34 soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, with a total amount of 2.56 billion VND. The entire army deployed financial support, built and donated houses of gratitude, "Houses of Great Unity", "Houses of Comrades", and demolished temporary and dilapidated houses for local people. As of October 26, 2024, the number of houses of all types was 23,078.
Along with that, the Ministry of National Defense directed to support the construction of Dien Bien Primary and Secondary School in Thanh Xuong commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province with a budget of 120 billion VND; support 10 projects for Army units participating in sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction, and construction of civil works from the "For the Poor" Fund with a total amount of 23.8 billion VND; support the 15th Army Corps to build 4 cultural communal houses for localities, with a total amount of over 12 billion VND. In particular, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day are expected to be solemnly held on the morning of December 20, 2024 at the National Convention Center (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi), with the participation of Party and State leaders.
Also according to information at the press conference, following the success of the first Exhibition, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will organize the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition in 2024, scheduled to take place from December 19 to 22, 2024 at Gia Lam Airport, Hanoi. Providing more information on this content, Major General Le Ngoc Than, Chief of Political Affairs of the General Department of Defense Industry, said that up to now, 140 focal units from 27 countries have registered to attend the exhibition and signed contracts with the Organizing Committee, with an area of over 5,000 m2. Among them, many countries with strengths in defense industry development such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, etc. have registered to participate and display products at the exhibition.
During the 4 days of the exhibition, in addition to the general activities of Party and State leaders and international delegations, the Organizing Committee will open the exhibition for free to the public, expected from 1:30 p.m. on December 21 to the end of December 22.
