Strong development opportunities for the transportation and logistics industry

On the afternoon of January 7, in Hanoi, the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development ( Ministry of Transport ), Vietnam SuperPort™ Company and China Railway 16 Vietnam Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway Construction Corporation) signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in developing railway logistics infrastructure.

The event not only opens up strong development opportunities for Vietnam's transport, logistics and trade industries, but also promotes extensive international cooperation, contributing to the sustainable development of the economy .

Accordingly, Vietnam SuperPort™ is a multimodal logistics port with an area of ​​up to 83 hectares, located in Vinh Phuc province. This is a strategic joint venture between YCH Group, a leading Singaporean supply chain solution provider with nearly 70 years of industry leadership experience, and T&T Group (Vietnam), one of the top 10 largest multi-industry private economic groups in Vietnam.

The Memorandum of Understanding between Vietnam SuperPort™ and the Institute of Transport and Development Strategy emphasizes the implementation of a national railway network development strategy, optimizing the efficient transportation of goods to and from Vietnam SuperPort™. The two parties will cooperate in researching strategies for developing new railway lines and stations connecting to this multimodal logistics port to enhance logistics capacity.

Specifically, Vietnam SuperPort™ is positioned as a key transit hub along the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway line. This initiative will facilitate efficient and cost-effective freight transport within Vietnam and across borders.

In addition to the partnership with the Institute of Transport Development and Strategy, Vietnam SuperPort™ also signed a memorandum of understanding with China Railway 16 Vietnam Group Co., Ltd. The cooperation focuses on the construction of a railway cargo terminal at the multimodal logistics port and a railway line connecting to Vietnam's national railway; serving logistics services and cross-border freight transport between Vietnam and China as well as other countries in the region.

Here, Vietnam SuperPort™ will provide integrated logistics solutions including: Planning, cargo handling, warehouse management, distribution, multimodal transportation... thereby improving the efficiency and competitiveness of railway transport services.

Towards an important hub in regional and global supply chains

Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, emphasized the importance of these strategic partnerships in realizing the vision of a multimodal logistics port. The 83-hectare project will integrate road, air, sea and rail transport.

“Developing the logistics industry associated with connecting transport infrastructure, especially railway infrastructure, will contribute to improving national logistics capacity as well as enhancing Vietnam's integration into the global supply chain,” Dr. Yap affirmed.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien, Deputy Director in charge of the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development, said that Vietnam SuperPort™ is a major logistics infrastructure developer with a strategic vision, promoting regional supply chain connectivity linked to sustainable development goals, committed to net zero emissions by 2040. This goal is completely consistent with the Ministry of Transport's roadmap for developing a green and sustainable transport system.

“This strategic partnership is of great significance, not only promoting the effective development of transport infrastructure but also supporting the growth target of the logistics industry, enhancing trade relations between Vietnam and countries in the region,” Ms. Hien shared.

The collaborative effort between Vietnam SuperPort™ and its strategic partners is an important step forward in boosting Vietnam’s logistics and transport capabilities. By leveraging the expertise of key partners, the project aims to enhance Vietnam’s position as a key regional and global supply chain hub, thereby contributing to the country’s economic growth and enhancing its international competitiveness.
