Hue tourism will become a "leading cultural heritage destination in Vietnam and the region".
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh shared that tourism is a key economic sector, not only contributing to creating jobs and improving income for millions of workers, helping many households in remote areas escape poverty, bringing a new look and reviving historical sites after years of neglect, but also promoting cooperation, cultural exchange, international integration, building friendship, preserving peace, and helping the unique cultural values of the nation to be promoted, deeply ingrained, and spread domestically and internationally. In just two years, 2023 and 2024, Vietnam's tourism has recovered spectacularly, far exceeding planned targets and becoming one of the bright spots of the economy.
“Today, sharing in the atmosphere of excitement and pride as Hue is recognized as a centrally-governed city, we gather in the ancient capital, a land that embodies long-standing cultural values and where the sacred spirit of the nation resides. This event is even more significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Hue, a glorious historical milestone marking the indomitable spirit of the nation. The opening ceremony is the beginning of a series of cultural, sports, and tourism activities taking place throughout the country, promising to make Hue a tourism and cultural hub of Vietnam and the region, contributing to promoting and inspiring tourism among the people, and creating momentum to boost the tourism industry's recovery and sustainable development,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Firstly, we need to implement comprehensive and synchronized solutions regarding planning and investment attraction to create distinctive and high-class tourism products linked to unique cultural heritage values.
Secondly, we need to accelerate digital transformation and apply technology to effectively communicate and promote tourism in Hue in particular and the Central coastal region in general, as well as the whole country; creating new spaces for tourism development, minimizing impacts on the environment, natural resources, landscapes, and heritage.
Thirdly, focus on building a civilized, friendly, and sustainable tourism environment; promote green transformation; strongly promote cultural heritage values to boost tourism, using tourism as a foundation for preserving, restoring, and promoting the value of local heritage.
Fourth, training and developing human resources for tourism, especially equipping them with professional skills and fostering a professional mindset for tourism.
Fifth, strengthen linkages and cooperation between localities, creating a chain of destinations called "Ancient Capital Journey," in which Hue must be the driving force and highlight attracting tourists.
Sixth, focus on developing tourism infrastructure, improving services, and ensuring a safe tourism environment; while continuing to promote the preservation and development of heritage values so that Hue City remains an attractive destination on the international tourism map. Pay attention to building a cultured lifestyle and civilized, friendly behavior so that "Every Hue citizen is truly an ambassador of culture and tourism"; and take responsibility for preserving and protecting the environment and landscape, as these are the lifeblood of today and tomorrow.
